Licensure and Certification:

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Tsai Lab at CHLA is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our research program as an Associate Research Specialist. The Tsai Lab studies the genomics of pediatric brain tumors, focusing on using functional genomics approaches to characterize tumor drivers and identify novel dependencies with the goal of finding better therapies for childhood cancer. The Associate Research Specialist will perform molecular biology techniques (cloning, plasmid generation, DNA and RNA isolations), protein work including Western blots, generate lentivirus, culture neurosphere cell lines, and perform functional genomics experiments in these cell lines. This individual will be expected to be organized, understand scientific concepts, plan and prepare for experiments, and conduct routine and non-routine laboratory procedures. This person will be expected to accurately document their methods, analyze data, and assist in the preparation of results for publication in research journals as well as posters or presentations for conferences. The candidate will present in lab meetings and will engage in one-on-one meets with the PI on a regular basis to discuss research progress and professional development, including mentorship regarding graduate and/or medical school. Additional laboratory responsibilities include ordering lab supplies, lab maintenance, and lab management.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1+ year of experience performing independent laboratory research experiment at the time of start. Strong preference for 2 year commitment. Must be proficient in the following:
* Experience with cell culture and sterile technique
* General molecular biology skills (cloning of plasmids, lentiviral generation) and ability to follow wet lab protocols, including Western blots, PCR, DNA/RNA extractions, CRISPR/Cas9, viability assays, and drug plating
* Attention to detail and maintaining accurate records
* Ability to read and grasp scientific literature

Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
The Language and Cultural Specialist II (Spanish Interpreter), under general supervision, provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication and the relaying of medical information between speakers of different languages at CHLA; and provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as translation of medical instructions and medication schedules, and any hospital related administrative correspondence with patients/families, including information, education and documentation materials. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

* Competency in written and verbal communication skills in English and the designated foreign language (Spanish).
* Ability to translate and interpret medical terminology.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Psychotherapist II is responsible for the behavioral health assessment, treatment planning, and intervention services (i.e., psychotherapy) for a defined caseload of patients (ages 0-21) and their families. The Psychotherapist II will also complete at least one intake assessment per week. Provides psychotherapeutic services for a caseload of patients with behavioral health needs. Responsible for assessment, treatment planning and provision of psychotherapeutic services to a defined caseload of patients and may also support the facilitation of groups. Employs evidence-based psychological treatment interventions and provides case management services as needed. Services are primarily clinic-based. This position works with other interdisciplinary team members to support access to overall services. This position is also responsible for supporting partnerships designed to enhance the availability of services care at CHLA and at external partners.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Minimum 2+ years clinical experience with children, adolescents, young adults, and/or their families/caregivers. Valid CA Driver's License and proof of insurance required for positions requiring field-based services. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Experience working with children/youth in a Community MH setting highly preferred. Experience working with children with developmental disabilities highly preferred. Experience working with children with medical diagnoses preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology with previous experience in a child, adolescent, or family mental health setting. BLS certification from the American Heart Association required. Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
