The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for assisting clinical and ancillary hospital staff in all activities related to the prevention and control of nosocomial infections. The IP will perform daily rounds on patients throughout the hospital, as well as in an environment of care (EOC) setting. Works collaboratively with other Infection Prevention staff to perform surveillance activities, report communicable diseases to local and federal health authorities, and investigate exposures or outbreaks. Educates staff, patients, and families on infection prevention policies and best practices. Works collaboratively with all healthcare personnel to advise on all matters related to Infection Prevention and Control. Provides support for Infection Prevention quality improvement and safety projects and initiatives and supports the hospital's benchmarking efforts. Performs day-to-day Infection Prevention activities in accordance with hospital policy and procedures, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Licensure and Certification:
Current California Registered Nurse License (RN) preferred, or comparable license in a related healthcare field
Current BLS provider card
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required. If in process, must pass exam within 12 months of hire
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commensurate degree in a healthcare related field.
Experience:
Two (2) years of infection control experience in an acute care setting preferred

Overview
Position Summary: The Language and Cultural Specialist II under general supervision, provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication and the relaying of medical information between speakers of different languages at CHLA; and provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as translation of medical instructions and medication schedules, and any hospital related administrative correspondence with patients/families, including information, education and documentation materials. The Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management will be responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of an effective Patient Safety and Enterprise Risk Management program. The facility wide responsibilities for this integrated role will require proactive, strategic planning to ensure the alignment of critical functions that will promote a just culture, prioritize the HMNH zero harm goals and protect the organization from violations of the law, and/or regulatory risk.
The Director will be responsible for the management of program personnel and fiscal and material resources. They will support staff development and continuous program and process improvement. They will be a role model for the Henry Mayo Way of patient, employee, partner and community engagement.
Licensure and Certification:
* Current California Clinical License (RN, PharmD, or Healthcare related field)
* Certificate Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred
* Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
* Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
Education:
* Bachelor's degree required
* Master's degree in related field or Juris Doctor preferred
Experience:
* Minimum five (5) years' experience in Healthcare Law, Risk Management and/or Patient Safety
* Minimum three (3) years' experience in management required
* Previous clinical care experience required
Knowledge and Skills:
* Demonstrates and applies leadership and management theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods to create and maintain a high functioning, engaged team.
* Effective oral, written and presentation skills.
* Ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of the organization, including the Medical Staff
* Advocate and facilitator for continuous improvement
Physical Demands:
* Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
* Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
* Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
