The division is responsible for implementing the Air District's Facility Risk Reduction Program to reduce health risks from existing facilities or sources. The position will work on the Air District's Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) Control Programs, designed to identify, assess, and reduce public exposure to toxic air contaminants. The programs integrate federal, state, and local regulations to:
Monitor and evaluate TAC emissions from permitted facilities through annual emissions inventories and health risk assessments
Implement the Air Toxics New Source Review (NSR) program, requiring preconstruction review and risk assessment for new or modified TAC sources
Operate Facility Risk Reduction Programs, targeting existing facilities to identify, assess, and reduce health risks, especially in communities with disproportionate air quality impacts
Engage with community stakeholders and provide transparent access to emissions data and health risk information through annual reports and online tools
These efforts have led to significant reductions in health risks from toxic air contaminants across the Bay Area. The Engineering Division also engages in programs and projects including, but not limited to:

Working Conditions:
While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. Job Description
Design: Works with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Engineers, and designers to develop process flow diagrams, P&ID's, and equipment layouts to efficiently meet customer specifications; ensures designs and layouts conform to specifications, code requirements, and food safety requirements
Provides direction to designers and CAD operators for creation of engineering drawings
Develops design specifications for external suppliers including OEM's and Sub-Contractors
Communicates directly with equipment vendors to obtain all necessary designs, drawings and utility information. Utilizes collected data to design equipment utility drawings
Prepares contract documents, calculations, observation reports, and estimates
Budget Control: Assists in bid process by estimating layout costs (design and material) for specified process; Seeks alternative methods that reduce cost of design; Reviews activities to ensure design stays within projected costs
Client Interface: Effectively responds to needs and requests of client as needed
Project Administration: Utilizes company software to ensure all necessary documents are in place and processed; Reviews and approves Engineering Change Notices; Develops and implements design project schedules; Schedules meetings as necessary with suppliers, owners, design teams, and permitting agencies; plans work schedules and timelines for support staff
External Relationships: Coordinates with outside engineering and architectural resources on all aspects of design; communicates with permitting and regulatory agencies as necessary
Provides on-site project support to assist in accurate process equipment installation with contractors using the project installation drawings
Assists in updating all record data and drawings for final project completion
Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or similar relevant discipline
10+ years of professional experience
10+ years of progressive experience in Bakery process/manufacturing engineering environment
Food Safety Designs and Guidelines
Statistical Analysis & Technical Writing
Skilled in relevant software; Procore, MS Office Suite, BlueBeam, Adobe, Power BI, AutoCAD and BIM / ACC
Travel required to customer locations, OEM locations, and construction site locations.

Key Responsibilities:
Recommending and implementing improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.
Coordinating the manufacturing launch of new or revised products.
Providing mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Leading projects related to tooling design and process development.
Ensuring product and process quality by designing test methods, testing finished products, and performing process capability studies.
Creating and approving product drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Establishing and performing verification and validation activities, including design verification testing, process validation, packaging validation, and shelf-life studies.
Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing test data.
Evaluating and solving production problems to maintain efficiency and quality.
Representing manufacturing in cross-functional meetings to facilitate collaboration.
Ensuring new equipment and tooling meet process validation requirements according to established procedures.
Targeting and implementing cost reduction initiatives to improve profitability.
Training employees on current and new manufacturing processes to ensure compliance and skills development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Prior experience in manufacturing support roles in the medical device or healthcare industries.
Relevant experience supporting process improvement and new product introductions.
Proven ability to support manufacturing processes or projects.
Strong understanding of process improvement, continuous improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
Experience in supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) and equipment/process launches.
Proficiency with computer skills including Word, Excel, and SolidWorks
Knowledge of medical devices, healthcare, or vascular device manufacturing.
Familiarity with process development and equipment support.
Experience with Vascular or Neurovascular product lines.
