Ensures buildings are secure when exiting. * Checks truck for all maintenance repairs (oil changes, gas mileage, etc.) and reports any and all damages to manger. Keeps truck clean and washed. Responsible for troubleshooting and making preventative maintenance recommendations regarding vehicles. * Assists with special events and completes other duties as assigned. * May perform courier services for the system as needed. * Completes assigned online training. * Performs additional duties as assigned including serving on task forces, committees, or assist other departments as needed with their workload. * Train new Driver/Sorter's on duties of the role, including vehicle operations, material handling, data collection. * Provide routine updates to the supervisor on trainees' progress. Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma or G.E.D. * 3 years' driving experience preferred. * Experience operating a 26-foot box truck preferred. * Ability to perform alphabetic and numeric sorting. * Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems. * Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements. * Valid driver's license which meets the minimum requirements of CML's vehicle insurance policy. The Driver Trainee position trains side by side with the drivers to gain experience. Driver Trainees begin employment in a trainee role while training to become a driver. The driving position is guaranteed if the training criteria is met. Drivers are responsible for servicing assigned route(s)/customers with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Responsibilities of Position: Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. Provide waste or recycling removal services to customers on assigned route(s) and hauling to disposal site. Clean up waste spills and overflows. Maintain and update route sheets/logs sheets.
