* Continually monitors smoke recorder when operating on oil and cleans smoke monitor lenses as necessary.

Working under close supervision, this role performs semi-skilled mechanical and electrical tasks to ensure safe, reliable plantoperations.
The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of power plant or thermal energy plant work experience, particularly in boiler and chiller operations. A certified operator program or power plant technology education is preferred, along with experience in electrical, plumbing, controls, and welding.
This position is based on the Dallas campus and requires schedule flexibility, including nights, weekends, holidays, and potential on-call coverage during emergencies or staffing needs.

Physical Demands:
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Work requires moderate to high amount of physical agility and strength, including but not limited to: ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.; positioning self to complete a task (stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching); moving about to accomplish tasks (may be for long distances or moving from one work site to another); pushing; pulling; lifting 50 pounds without assistance; grasping; and using repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Responsibilities
Power Plant Maintenance and Repair - 60%
* Monitor power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.
* Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power or to regulate the flow of power between generating stations and substations.
* Control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, or reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment.
* Regulate equipment operations and conditions, such as water levels, based on instrument data or from computers.
* Make adjustmentsor minor repairs, such as tightening leaking gland and pipe joints.
* Record and compile operational data by completing and maintaining forms, logs, or reports.
* Receive outage calls and call in necessary personnel during power outages and emergencies.
