Power Plant Operator Job Responsibilities: As a Power Plant Operator, you will adhere to departmental/governmental safety standards in addition to departmental/organizational personal appearance policies. To help achieve our mission, you will chemically analyze boiler, chiller, cooling tower and all closed loop systems. Your ability to operate and assist in maintaining/repairing all Power Plant equipment with minor supervision is of vital importance. Monitoring other engineering systems and taking emergency actions when necessary Responding to plant emergencies and demonstrating knowledge of locations of firefighting equipment, while performing safety checks on plant equipment, is expected. Understands the importance of chemical balance in all systems. Cleans and paints equipment, piping and associated accessories in Power Plant and mechanical rooms. Performs chemical analysis tests and adds the correct amount of chemicals to keep a prescribed balance in boilers, cooling towers and closed loop systems. Minimum Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Technical training in maintenance field. Experience: 1 year of experience as an operating engineer or in a related field; Prior experience with operating boilers, generators and/or conducting mechanical maintenance.

Plans, organizes and coordinates small projects. * Demonstrates knowledge and skills required for a Third-Grade Stationary Engineer's license * Assists with, oversees and/or inspects repairs or modifications performed by contractors. * Manages individual inventory following departmental inventory management and control parameters. Demonstrates safe work practices, compliance with OSHA requirements, effective communication, and customer service skills. * Demonstrates management skills such as planning, coordination, estimating, and scheduling skills. POSITION OVERVIEW The Chemical Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of production equipment in their assigned production area used to produce microencapsulated products in a safe and efficient manner. The role utilizes both automated and manual systems to add raw materials, initiate and monitor the process to transform the raw materials into finished product. Several actions require manual operator actions that include obtaining samples for testing, manual material additions, and documentation of critical process steps. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Safe handling of equipment and materials understanding the hazards and proper utilization of PPE * Maintain on time production schedule by coordinating daily activities * Accurate and timely in completion of tasks and documentation * Effective communication with team members and management * Work overtime to cover vacancies/vacations and meet Customer requirements, including weekends * Promote teamwork by assisting other where and when needed * Train new or less experienced team members * Cross train to other processes and positions for business continuity and flexibility * Operate equipment in accordance with SOP's * Observe, adjust, and monitor equipment to ensure safety, quality, and efficient operation * Complete manual operations as required by the process * Document process critical data timely and accurately * Issue materials and complete orders in Deacom * Maintain 5S standards * Participate in continuous improvement efforts * Perform basic care, housekeeping and maintenance of equipment and work area * Communicate operational needs within team and with management * Attend all plant meetings and complete all trainings on time * Carry out additional duties as assigned * Ability to occasionally push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds * Ability to wear a respirator as required by the task being performed or chemical safety data sheets. * Work safely around and appropriately handle hazardous chemicals around plant. * SAFETY - Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations. Take actions and identify and communicate ideas to minimize waste, prevent pollution and conserve energy. * HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING - All associates who handle hazardous waste shall be given an overview of the regulations and company policies regarding the management of hazardous waste. The hazardous waste handlers shall receive detailed instruction on the proper handling, collecting, labeling, and transporting of hazardous waste as outlined in RCRA and OSHA regulations. Instructions shall also include whom to notify in case of a spill and proper procedures for spill response. Educational requirements include the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Instructions on handling hazardous waste shall come from the hazardous waste manager or appropriate designee.
