RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate mammography unit to include radiologist assisted procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, ultrasound guided breast biopsies, cyst aspirations and needle localizations or produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician. The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire a Full-Time Professional Flight Paramedic to support MedEvac 14, located in North Lima, OH. Schedule: + (2) 24-hour shifts per week + Holidays and weekends required _MedEvac 14 is based in Ohio, but the position requires both an OH and a PA Paramedic card due to the patient population._ Purpose: The Professional Flight Paramedic functions as a member of the critical care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill or injured patients transported by the STAT MedEvac system. The technologist will be responsible for the proper ordering of the isotopes and the subsequent return to radio pharmacy of unused material. RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates and maintains quality control for all imaging equipment and radioactivity assaying devices in the Nuclear Medicine Department; calibrates cameras and equipment in accordance with internal protocols; verifies proper operation of equipment prior to use; checks radiation-monitoring devices and advises appropriate parties if problems are identified. Prepares radio-pharmaceuticals for patient use, administers radio-pharmaceuticals to patients and performs nuclear medicine procedures; uses appropriate camera in accordance with internal protocols; ensures that sufficient supplies are on hand to perform procedures; follows safeguards and protocols to ensure quality of results. Operates nuclear medicine computers to enhance the diagnostic value of information obtained from nuclear medicine procedures; follows internal protocols when processing computer studies to achieve high quality films by choice of filters, slice selection, display parameters, image intensity and labeling techniques.
