The first application review date will be 10/24/2025. Key Responsibilities: 35% Gathers, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes the collection of information and data. Recommends approaches, trends, sources, and uses. Writes complex queries to gather programmatic data from multiple systems, using SQL in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Microsoft Access, for annual reporting and ad hoc requests. Analyzes and prepares data to inform administrative and program decision making. Provides leadership to compile data for the Program Planning and Evaluation team and contributes to the analysis to meet annual federal program reporting requirements, strategic communications, and advocacy efforts. 20% Manages day-to-day operations for several information systems, including the following federal systems: The National Institute of Food Agriculture's (NIFA) Reporting System; the Research, Extension, and Education Project Online Reporting Tool; and the National Information Management and Support System, with over 500 UC ANR academic users. Organizes and updates this academic and programmatic staff data in large, complex tables. 15% Prepares data for presentation in clear and compelling ways for a variety of audiences including administrators across the UC system and academics across disciplines, from senior leadership to researchers in the field, as well as UC ANR clientele/members of the public. For example, manages the programmatic and non-sensitive personnel data tasks for presentation in the online ArcGIS UC ANR Programmatic Footprint Maps. Tests maps to ensure the data is represented properly. The Neuromuscular Division of Neurology is seeking a Research Data Analyst (RDA), with clinical data management experience to utilize knowledge from research tools to conduct and analyze research data assuring efficiency and regulatory compliance; collect, compile and perform statistical analysis, data reports and management. The division is eager to determine novel approaches towards quantifying movement through wearable and video technology and develop novel methods of analyzing MRI data to better characterize disease health for individuals with neuromuscular disease. As disease modifying treatments become available in neuromuscular diseases, we are researching novel approaches to better quantify movement and complement current clinical practice working alongside other professionals in radiology, cardiovascular health, and engineering. This position focuses on clinical data management and primarily focuses on supporting the labs clinical data collection systems. One would expect to be using REDCap database design and form creation regularly while also aligning with administrative and research data governance politics. A successful candidate would serve as the primary data manager for multiple clinical research studies, ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and efficient data flow from collection through analysis. Learning SQL or having experience with Google Cloud would be preferred. Projects involve working with both pediatric and adults with neuromuscular diseases in both a lab and clinical environment. There are opportunities for long-term growth within the team with the ability to gain critical skillsets for a career in biomedical sciences. These studies will be conducted at the Stanford University Medical Center. This position will work closely with study investigators, project managers, and other research personnel to design and implement data management and analytic strategies that align with the project's scientific objectives. The primary responsibilities include: * Assisting with the design, testing, and maintenance of data collection instruments, participant tracking tools, and electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap). * Carrying out ongoing data quality assurance procedures, including data cleaning, validation, codebook development, and documentation of data irregularities or protocol deviations. * Performing secure data storage, organization, and retrieval processes consistent with institutional and federal compliance requirements (including de-identification, data transfer protocols, and controlled-access procedures). * Supporting the establishment, maintenance, and sharing of research datasets for internal project use and for external collaborators, including preparation of well-documented, analysis-ready datasets. * Collaborating with investigators and analysts to generate summary statistics or descriptive reports that inform study operations and manuscript development. * Contributing to research dissemination through preparation of figures, tables, technical summaries, and methodological documentation for manuscripts, presentations, and grant reports. * Participating in regular team meetings and contributing to the development and refinement of data-related workflows, standard operating procedures, and best practices for longitudinal cohort research. Housed in Northern Illinois University's Division of Outreach, Engagement, and Regional Development (OERD), CELFE works in collaboration with academic, data, and research partners across the NIU system as well as with external partners. CELFE began its work focused primarily on Illinois' ECEC system, in which our Director, Theresa Hawley, Ph.D. has spent almost 30 years as a researcher, advocate, and government systems change leader - working to improve ECEC policies with children and families at the center. Now, CELFE is building on that experience and the passion for systems change to focus more deeply on the funding adequacy and equity of the ECEC system. The scope and reach of CELFE is expanding to include all states and municipalities interested in transformation. CELFE is only in its fourth year and needs to scale up our internal capacity to meet the growing needs of states and clients interested in understanding how to transform their own ECEC systems through an equity lens, with children and families at the center. As such, we are hiring a Data Analyst to support our Program and Policy staff with client work, research projects, and general organizational support. Position Summary This position is a hybrid, Chicago-based position with a requirement to be in person a portion of every week. 100% remote candidates will not be considered for this position. This position includes responsibilities to support the overall work of the center, with a particular focus data collection, analysis and visualization. The position contributes and supports CELFE's research and dissemination work, client projects, and overall organizational workflow and growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Research Activities - 40% * Collaborates with colleagues, researchers, partners, and clients to develop objectives and design of research projects and proposals. * Performs complex data collection and study methods, evaluation and analysis requiring use of independent judgment. * Improves on current methods, procedures and evaluates new methods for achieving mutually beneficial partnership goals. * Conducts advanced analysis of research and project data and proposes changes to achieve shared solutions to shared problems. * Develops advanced research and project protocols. * Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment involving complex tasks with appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision-making. Communication Skills - 30% * Contributes material and assists in the writing of research findings for publications, papers, grants, and other documents for publication and distribution to public, private and professional audiences. * Advises students on methods and procedures * Participates in dialogues in area of expertise and of strategic importance to the public welfare, building consensus on shared problems and solutions. * Assists in building institutional capacity for engaged scholarship. * Builds and sustains networks and partnerships on topics important to public welfare. Contributes and supports CELFE's research and dissemination work - 20% * Collect, clean, and analyze data drawn from public and administrative data sets (i.e. Bureau of Labor Statistics). * Support the development and analysis of survey data. * Create data visualizations, including mapping of data to effectively convey data findings and analyses to broad audiences. * Conduct background research and data collection to support project and product development, including web-based and academic research. * Track and maintain (for CELFE) new/emerging research relevant to the work of CELFE to use in blog posts, link to through CELFE's website, and/or inspire potential partnerships and complementary projects. * Provide project support through scheduling meetings, project tracking and client communication as needed. Revenue Generation - 5% * Generates revenue sufficient to cover costs of research-related partnership activity. Other related duties as assigned - 5% * Other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements (SPS) * Demonstrated knowledge and ability in collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data. * Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with additional training and knowledge of R, SPSS, STATA, or similar statistical packages. * Demonstrated interest in early childhood education and the mission of CELFE. * General comfort level with using technology-based platforms for project management, basic research and data analysis, communication, and presentation of information. * Meeting planning and support skills. * Problem-solver with strong initiative to keep work moving. * Good communicator in person as well as in a virtual work environment. * Strong commitment to equity. * Passion for early childhood education and care with children and families at the center. * Comfortable with a start-up environment and flexibility to adapt to changes in work priorities and deadlines. * Willingness to ask questions, learn from others, and share ideas and talents with your colleagues. * Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet client-driven deadlines and needs. * Ability and willingness to travel for in-person meetings, attend and present at conferences, and/or client-related meetings. * Finance and/or budget skills.
