POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Associate Director for Industry and Technology Transactions is a leadership position within Stanford's Office of Technology Licensing, responsible for driving complex agreements that advance Stanford's mission of research excellence, innovation, and strategic collaboration. The position leads a team of contracting professionals and serves as the primary point of contact for strategic negotiations with industry leaders, strategic partners, and non‑profit organizations.
This role oversees the full lifecycle of complex transactions-from drafting through negotiation and execution-to ensure alignment with Stanford's policies, compliance requirements, and strategic objectives. The portfolio includes technology licensing agreements, research collaborations, strategic industry alliances, and mission‑aligned transactions with non‑profit organizations. The Senior Associate Director establishes clear risk frameworks and deal strategies that protect the University's interests while enabling sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships.
A key expectation is the ability to act as a strategic advisor who can translate complex legal concepts into practical, actionable business recommendations. The role partners closely with faculty, researchers, and internal contracting and licensing staff, as well as other Stanford offices to structure agreements that foster innovation, safeguard intellectual property and academic values, and support successful long‑term relationships with external partners.
This position requires excellent judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance risk with opportunity. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative problem‑solver who combines strong legal acumen with business insight to drive agreements that create value for Stanford and its partners. A JD or equivalent advanced degree is preferred, with 9+ years of experience in technology transfer, licensing, or complex commercial transactions and a track record of leading high‑value negotiations in domains such as biotech, engineering, or software.
CORE DUTIES
Direct staff and provide leadership to Industrial Contracts officers. Promote the goals and vision of ICO. Responsible for hiring, training and retaining staff, career coaching, professional development and accountable for the performance of direct reports.
Develop strategic plans for ICO. Identify and resolve strategic issues of substantial significance that affect the overall functioning beyond ICO, consult and advise senior University leadership. Advise senior management on programmatic and policy development.
Evaluate the effectiveness of ICO's organizational structure and programs to promote success, development of employees and appropriate use of staff resources.
Negotiate, sign and administer major research agreements with companies, such as master sponsored research agreements, unfunded collaboration agreements, material transfer agreements, equipment loan agreements, and other related agreements. Supervise ICO staff on other agreements.
Provide guidance to faculty, senior management, research staff, and other Stanford offices on Stanford policies on intellectual property, contracts, and other related issues. Oversee the resolution of issues related to intellectual property, contracts, research administration, and other related issues.
Coordinate the development and maintenance of internal group documents, databases and procedures to ensure work product and workflow are efficient and up‑to‑date.
Develop and deliver training on intellectual property, contracts, and other issues to co‑workers, faculty, staff, and other Stanford offices.
Network with colleagues at other institutions, at companies, and licensing associations to develop relationships and gain a broader understanding of industry‑academic relationships outside of Stanford. Make presentations at industry and academic research and licensing conferences.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and nine years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Job Overview
The Office of Information Technology is seeking a Lead Salesforce Engineer/Analyst to join our team. This role will architect, lead, and direct applications built on Salesforce Service Cloud and Experience Cloud and strategize future investments in the platform. The Lead Salesforce Engineer will take ownership of system configuration, workflow automation, and Apex development to improve licensing workflows and public-facing portals. The position requires independent judgement and authority to drive scalable, secure solutions that align with organizational and enterprise IT strategies. The Lead will collaborate across IT and business teams, providing technical leadership and oversight to ensure successful project delivery and long‑term platform governance.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on experience with Salesforce platform development and configuration, including Apex, Flows, and Experience Cloud site management. This individual is comfortable managing the full application lifecycle-analyzing business needs, configuring platform features, developing automation, and supporting integrations. Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, influence strategic decisions, and mentor technical staff is essential. Familiarity with batch jobs and third‑party tools is also valuable.
Definition
With minimum direction, the Lead IT Analyst provides technical leadership and direction for major IT projects, and/or serves as the technical authority for one or more related functions, including: network operating systems; software applications; data analytics applications, project/program management; product management; desktop support; system engineering; network infrastructure; database management; cloud services administration; and web server management. The Lead IT Analyst performs advanced, highly specialized IT work involving the business requirements, analysis, product roadmaps, planning, project management, architecture, designing, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or enhancement of complex IT systems and procedures, and may serve in a lead capacity over other IT analysts and support staff.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Lead IT Analyst is the highest level in the IT Analyst series and may be assigned to a function as an individual technical expert, project team leader. When assigned as a technical expert, performs work requiring a very high level of technical knowledge of a specific area, or ability to integrate at a high level the knowledge of several areas, while working with a significant amount of independent authority and judgment. When assigned as a project team leader, manages and provides technical leadership of projects involving large‑scale, complex, and highly analytical tasks. When assigned as a supervisor, may perform work comparable to a project team leader, but with direct supervision over subordinate IT analysts and support staff. The Lead IT Analyst is distinguished from the Senior IT Analyst in that the former performs the most complex IT operations and applications‑related duties, provides technical leadership and direction to lower‑level IT staff, and assumes responsibility for completion of major IT projects in accordance with the State Bar's needs. The Lead IT Analyst also provides strategic input and guidance within the incumbent's area of specialization.

Build, enhance, and maintain Salesforce Experience Cloud applications used by applicants for submission, status tracking, and communication.
Optimize and support internal Salesforce Service Cloud applications, driving improvements to licensing workflows, case reviews, and eligibility tracking.
Develop and configure advanced automation solutions, including Salesforce Flows, custom objects, validation rules, and Lightning page layouts, ensuring alignment with platform best practices and performance standards.
Write, review and optimize Apex triggers and classes to support complex automation, data manipulation, and integration with external systems.
Oversee and optimize scheduled batch jobs and integrations, including DMV data processing and CCScan document scanning.
Direct and lead cross functional initiatives by working with business stakeholders and IT teams to define requirements and deliver solutions that meet strategic goals.
Lead support portal enhancements, user acceptance testing, change management, and rollout activities for new Salesforce features or updates, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and user needs.

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Administration (Accounting, Management or Finance), Construction Management or related field. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered.
Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.

Responsibilities
High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.
Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and costs accruals.
Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
Process and estimate change orders and Requests for Information as directed by Project Manager.
Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
Process/manage material deliveries - ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and in compliance with Contract documents.
Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
Assist in developing and updating project schedule.
Work closely with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen and Crews).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leading mechanical system design development and coordinating with other team members.
Preparing or directing the development of mechanical, plumbing and utility working drawings and specifications.
Sizing and specifying HVAC, plumbing and utility equipment.
Calculating building heat load calculations for selecting major HVAC equipment.
Working knowledge of steam and hydronic systems.
Understanding basic mechanical system controls, sequence of operations, and P&ID diagrams.
Performing progress and final design reviews.
Participating in estimating process for plant mechanical systems.
Knowledge of fire protection design development and working with fire protection design/build subcontractors.
Preparing design criteria and bid packages for pricing by subcontractors.
Evaluating subcontractor proposals.
Performing submittal reviews, RFI responses and field visits.
Supervising the supporting engineers and drafters.
Supporting talent growth in the mechanical group.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related 4-year degree
Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure
10+ years of relevant experience; mechanical experience in food production, pharmaceutical or other sanitary environments strongly desired. A

Ability to multi-task and manage others.
Proficiency in Building Load Estimating software.
Knowledge in Revit and other BIM platforms a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office suite software.
Willingness to travel to project sites, estimated 15-25% time
