Hexcel is currently seeking a Production Operator/Process Associate for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
Contributing to our safety-first culture that includes a consistent use of personal protective equipment to ensure your safety
Performing manufacturing duties to create world-class carbon fiber, resins, and pre-preg materials used in commercial aerospace, space and defense, and industrial applications
Reading and documenting operating parameters in accordance with production specifications
Operating and monitoring production machines to ensure product quality standards
Accountability to our customers by detecting, reporting and correcting defective materials
Assisting with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the facility
Working a rotating 8 to 12 hour shift with the opportunity for 7 consecutive days off each month
Urgently responding to challenges that arise on the line
Working in a team environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Willingness to work overtime as needed
Ability to urgently address situations and events that require a quick response
Demonstrate basic written and verbal communication skills
Ability to physically perform the functions of the job
Basic computer skills
Ability to conduct and understand basic arithmetic and measurements using a calculator and ruler
Previous manufacturing experience preferred

Select and install tooling, place electrodes in automatic-tool-changer (if required) in sequence specified on process sheet.
Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speed of machining cuts. Check program at start of each shift.
Inspect first-run piece, maintain measured dimension list. Record and inspect key dimensions for conformance to specifications using micrometer and precision dial gauges.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 1 year of experience operating EDM/CNC/ECM or tooling production or equivalent.
Ability to work overtime as required including occasional weekend shift.
Know how to read blueprint drawings

Ensure Kanban systems are managed and replenished appropriately.
Process Improvement & Maintenance:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and inefficiencies.
Identify opportunities for Kaizen and other lean manufacturing practices.
Maximize machine uptime and production throughput.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate maintenance needs via work orders.
Visual Factory Standards:
Maintain a clean, organized, and "customer-ready" work environment at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret production documents and specifications.
Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and safety.
Willingness to learn, train others, and support a team environment.
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced manufacturing environment
Standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required
