Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Perform high-voltage switching, tagging, grounding, isolating, and restoration of circuits and equipment per procedures and safety protocols. * Interpret and follow electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and switching orders. * Coordinate switching operations with utility control centers, plant operations, and other switchmen. * Write, review, and execute switching orders. * Install and verify proper placement of grounds, lockout/tagout devices, and safety equipment. * Conduct walk-downs and inspections of substations, switchyards, and associated electrical infrastructure. * Monitor electrical loads, equipment status, and alarms; respond to abnormal conditions. * Participate in routine and emergency switching operations, including scheduled maintenance and fault isolation. * Document work activity, switching steps, and equipment status using logs or computerized systems. * Support troubleshooting and repair efforts with electricians and supervisory personnel. * Participate in training, safety meetings, and periodic certification updates. Qualifications: Education and Experience: * High school diploma or GED required. * Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or formal switchman training preferred. * Minimum 3-5 years of experience with high-voltage electrical systems, switching operations, or substation maintenance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Working knowledge of high-voltage power systems, substations, transformers, breakers, and associated controls. * Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. * Proficiency in proper lockout/tagout and electrical safety protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E). * Skilled in risk assessment and situational awareness during live system operations. * Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, squatting, kneeling, and lifting as required for accessing and working on electrical equipment. * Effective communication skills (verbal and written); able to coordinate across departments. * Strong attention to detail and adherence to standardized procedures. The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline. **About the role** The Operations Technician is responsible for the overall safe operation, maintenance, and performance of a landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing facility. This position requires 25%-50% travel per month (First 12 months in the position will require 50% travel per month when hired nth when working at an existing plant or in year 2 and beyond for a new plant). **Key accountabilities** + Manage the safe operation of the plant during assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards. + Make periodic inspections of plant equipment to determine proper and normal operating conditions. Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed. + Review daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of the plant equipment. + Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on plant instrumentation and equipment. + Detect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices and equipment. + Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems. + Diagnose equipment malfunctions during emergencies and direct activities to restore normal operation or to shut down malfunctioning unit. + Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters. + Troubleshoot and repair electrical system wiring from control wiring up to 480 volts.
