Robinson Callen founded H.I. Development, a development and management company specializing in the hospitality industry, in 1959.
On July 1, 1998, The Housing and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii (HCDCH) began operating as a single agency.
On July 5, 2005, Governor Linda Lingle enacted Act 196 which effectively split the Housing and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii (HCDCH) in two agencies.
