Daniel Lars Florness
Fastenal

Mr. Daniel L. Florness, serves as the company's president and chief executive officer. He began his career at Fastenal in 1996, and served as the company's chief financial officer from June 1996 to December 2002, and as an executive vice president and the chief financial officer of the company from December 2002 to December 2015. During his time as chief financial officer, Mr. Florness' experience with the company expanded beyond finance, including leadership of product development and procurement, and, in more recent years, the company's national accounts business. In his role as president and chief executive officer, Mr. Florness provides the board with critical input on the development and implementation of high level strategies for the company and on the overall operations and resources of the company. In addition, his long prior tenure as chief financial officer makes Mr. Florness uniquely situated to provide the board with in-depth insight into the company's financial planning, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Mr. Florness also serves on the board of directors of PlastiComp, Inc., a privately held company specializing in the provision of long fiber thermoplastic composites and technologies. Mr. Florness has been a director of Fastenal since January 2016.

As CEO, Frank Qiu spearheads the operations of Evergreen Enterprises from managing financial and physical resources to long-term strategic planning and company organization. Prior to Evergreen, Frank's positions included being an assistant professor with the Fudan Economics Research Center, a member of a Shanghai government think tank focused on economic development. As an insurance sales agent at Prudential Insurance, Frank became a member of “President's Club,” the highest honor for top sales at the company and was also the owner of Evergreen Financial Services, his own successful P&C insurance agency. In 1993, at the creation of Evergreen Enterprises, Frank was a significant part of the venture, working with sales, sourcing, and partnerships. In 1995, to meet the needs of a quickly growing business, he sold his sales agency and devoted all of his time to Evergreen by taking on the role of CEO. In less than ten years, the company became a global enterprise with more than 300 full-time employees and thousands of uniquely designed products, meeting both indoor and outdoor decorative needs of American families. In 2000, Frank was named the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Virginia. Frank earned a B.B.A. in 1986 from Fudan University in China as well as a M.A. in Economics from Old Dominion University in 1989. He was also selected for three consecutive years to attend executive seminars co-sponsored by Harvard's Business School. As an alumnus of Fudan University, Frank was named “2009 Alumni of the Year” for his outstanding leadership in Evergreen's innovation and counter-attack during the economic downturn. He also sits on the board of Fudan's “MBA mentor-ship program” by coaching MBA students in their academic studies and career development. Taking on a role as an ambassador in American and Chinese relations, Frank has worked to facilitate business partnerships between the US and China, while inspiring future generations to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams. An enthusiastic cultural representative and philanthropist, Frank lives in Goochland, Virginia with his wife and two children. Frank loves gardening, reading, and chess.
