Originally Hidden Valley Country Club was named The Fort Douglas Club. It was incorporated as a member-owned, nonprofit club and opened Valentine's Day, 1928.
In the late 1930’s there was an employee walk-out just before a major function started.
The original golf course (the remnants of which are now the University of Utah), was the site of the Western Open in 1947, which attracted golf great Ben Hogan.
In 1956 four young business executives; Link Piazzo, Emmett Saviers, Del Machabee and William Kottinger Sr., met each weekday over a cup of coffee.
Hidden Valley Golf Club has been in business since 1962 when the late Carl Dietrich opened the original 9 holes on the west side of the property — 8 of which are still in use today.
The second 9-hole course was added in 1972 to create the first 18-hole design.
The economic reality of operating two facilities dictated a sale of the original Fort Douglas Club to the James L. White Jewish Community Center in 1997.
The construction of the 44,000-square foot facility began in the spring of 2000 and was completed in the summer.
Seno sold their last lot in late 2003.
The course existed as 27 holes until October 2004, when the facility was sold to a group of investors.
Again, in late 2006, minor changes were made to the course to accommodate the development of 26 residential homes sites on the course.
