Application Deadline: January 18, 2026 Overview: These positions will be employees of and supervised by Pheasants Forever, Inc. and Quail Forever (PFQF), with daily instruction, quality assurance, training, and workload prioritization provided by USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the PF Senior Farm Bill Biologist. This position will be located within USDA Service Centers and will provide conservation technical assistance and conservation program within their assigned districts. Occasional service to counties outside the primary work area may be required to address annual workload variance and assist teammates and partners. The biologist will work in joint capacity with NRCS, IDNR, and other partners to promote, accelerate enrollment, coordinate, and implement the conservation provisions of the Federal Farm Bill and other related wildlife conservation programs. These positions will also meet with local chapters of Pheasants Forever and other local partners to influence habitat management efforts and participate in statewide habitat meetings.
Job Duties:
Provide technical assistance (wildlife habitat focus) and guidance to private landowners, government agencies, non-government organizations and other groups primarily through federal Farm Bill programs. Training is provided jointly by NRCS and PFQF.
Communicate program requirements, complete site visits to determine eligibility, and develop contract documents for applicants and participants of Farm Bill conservation programs and other local and state programs.
Review plans and specifications for feasibility for implementation under Farm Bill program contract rules, etc.
Specific activities for CRP may include evaluations and conservation planning for new and re-enrolled contracts, mid-contract management and maintenance evaluations and recommendations, and status reviews.
Provide on-site landowner technical assistance for conservation practice implementation.
Coordinate and conduct training sessions which include workshops and tours for landowners and resource professionals.
Work with local PF/QF chapters to assist with habitat program education and outreach and provide technical assistance for habitat projects.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agency staff.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele.
Knowledge of wildlife ecology, grassland, wetland and early succession habitat management including the ability to utilize various habitat management tools in the development of management plans. Specific knowledge of grassland/farmland associated wildlife species' habitat requirements is desirable.
Strong background in prescribed fire, both implementation and education.
Knowledge of conservation and wildlife programs provided by federal Farm Bill (WRP, CRP, SAFE, EQIP, CSP, etc.), other state, & local entities. In addition, knowledge of how these programs are implemented in an agricultural landscape is desired.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.

Description of Typical Work Schedule: Rotating 40 hour work week dependent on program monitoring and needs. PURPOSE: Milieu supervisors work directly with direct service staff within the therapeutic milieu to ensure trauma-informed mental health treatment services are provided to youth so they can transition to a less restrictive environment, such as returning home or going to a specialized foster home setting. Milieu supervisors work with training, clinical, and service coordination teams to ensure that youth's treatment within the therapeutic milieu is in line with all service recommendations.
REPORTING STRUCTURE: Refer to the updated organizational chart for reporting structure and responsiblities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are completed under the supervision of a QMHP (additional information can be found in 89 Ill. Adm. Code 140.453) and include the following. Some duties are shared, and others are assigned to one or more individual Unit Managers.
Maintain a regular physical presence within the therapeutic milieu.
Protect residents to ensure physical and emotional safety, to include mandated reporting of any observed or suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect.
Ensure direct care staff adhere to policies and procedures, programming schedules, and trauma-informed interactions while providing therapeutic and scheduled activities.
Trains, coaches, and engages in trauma informed de-escalation and crisis management.
Model trauma-informed care and upmost professionalism with colleagues and youth at all times.
Share in coordinated responsibility with the rest of the treatment center staff in deciding on modification and individualization of the treatment process.
Assigns direct care staff duties, tracks for compliance, and holds accountable for outcomes.
Ensure the program and direct service staff (MHPs and RSAs) are compliant with agency, DCFS, Medicaid and COA policies and procedures.
Hold individual supervision sessions with each assigned employee on a regular interval and as needed, to include appropriate documentation of these sessions.
Attend and actively participate in meetings with program and agency leadership, as well as with other members of the treatment team.
Ensure staffing ratios are followed, moves staff assignments within milieus as needed to cover ratios as needed. Supplement the staffing ratio as required and must be able to perform all duties of a direct care staff member.
Must successfully participate in a minimum of 24 hours of training annually. This includes safety, policy & procedures, trauma informed care.
Attends and successfully completes TCI Train the Trainer Training. Meets all requirements to maintain status as a certified TCI Trainer. Provides TCI Training to program staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct supervision of direct care staff through in person observation, regular review of surveillance footage and one-on-one meetings. Teaches and role models for direct care staff, as well as assigns and oversees direct care staff tasks for completion. Takes turns in the on-duty rotation. Assists in hiring and training direct care staff and completes their employee evaluations at 90 days post-hire and annually thereafter.

Maintains visual contact, monitors each individual's level of fatigue, and looks for signs of overexertion.
Guides students skillfully through transitions with easily understood cues.
Encourages students to progress when appropriate; applies principles of overload and rest.
Set up equipment and store it securely after class and maintain the cleanliness of the wellness area.
