GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Performance Improvement (PI) Specialist is responsible to planning, coordinating and managing all performance improvement projects and activities which includes leading and facilitating teams, creating action plans and driving toward deadlines. Must be self-directed and demonstrate the ability to oversee several projects simultaneously. The Performance Improvement Specialist position is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and related processes to assess for appropriate treatment, documentation, adherence to protocols, and overall outcomes. This position provides pivotal support to the quality and safety divisions and other key internal and external stakeholders as needed to improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for planning, coordinating and managing assigned projects aimed at supporting the needs of the quality and safety divisions including quality, infection prevention, regulatory and patient safety. Facilitates recognition of performance improvement opportunities based on observation or data analysis, medical record/ process reviews and audits, measuring compliance to protocols. Coordinates the peer review process when appropriate and escalates recognized deviations from best practice to appropriate leaders.
Collaborates with all relevant internal and external staff to ensure that assigned projects meet relevant accreditation standards and requirements and that work is coordinated to accomplish goals in the most cost-effective, valid and accurate way possible. Takes appropriate actions to ensure that defined time frames are met, documentation is accurate, and confidentiality is maintained. Facilitates work related to core measures, HAC, mortality, readmission and PSI reduction programs in coordination with nursing and medical staff leaders in an effort to promote positive patient outcomes and to meet internal/external quality goals related to P4V/VBP reimbursements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
1-3 years experience in acute-care nursing

AHN is seeking a patient-oriented clinician with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills to provide state-of-the-art care to patients. Participation in active multidisciplinary tumor boards and experience with clinical trials is preferred.
Position would be at Allegheny General Hospital, with the candidate having an interest in clinical research as well as teaching the department's residents and medical students.
Position would include working with the Elekta Unity MR Linac with a focus on programmatic growth, trial development, and international collaboration.
APEX-accredited institution offering a full range of treatment modalities, including 3DCRT, IMRT/VMAT, IGRT, SBRT, LDR/HDR brachytherapy.
Facility is equipped with two Elekta Versa HD Linear accelerators, Elekta Unity MR Linac, Gamma Knife, CT simulation, Mosaiq EMR, Monaco treatment planning, motion management with onsite physics/dosimetry, medical oncology and radiology services.
The AGH Academic Center AHNCI is part of a larger network providing high-quality Radiation Oncology services to our patients through 17 hospital-based and freestanding facilities in Western Pennsylvania and Ohio.
AHN's Cancer Institute currently employs 22 radiation oncologists and 19 physicists.
Qualifications:
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Radiation Oncology
Completion of an ACGME-approved Radiation Oncology residency program

Purpose:
Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff and all UPMC owned and adjacent properties. Enforces UPMC rules and regulations to both employees and the public. Monitors security, fire, and environmental alarms. Responds to and resolves problems, disputes and unusual circumstances as necessary. Provides customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment. Serves as a first responder to any violent act occurring at a UPMC location. Will be armed with a firearm. Oversees the operations of assigned shift and formally leads the daily operations of the department. Organizes and assigns work, and provides daily instruction to staff regarding specific duties and assignments.
Responsibilities:
+ Ability to handle evidence control pertaining to UPMC initiated criminal investigations
+ Responds to acts of extreme violence at UPMC owned or controlled properties that have the potential to require the deployment of deadly force as dictated by UPMC policy.
+ May be required to support various types of investigations that have system-wide implication
+ Required to carry, properly handle, and be able to deploy a firearm.
+ Tasked with the ability to issue PA state citations for certain criminal and traffic offenses, using specific law enforcement applications such as the PA Justice Network, and performing other law enforcement duties as necessary.
+ Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by UPMC staff, visitors, physicians and patients.

Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to serve as a liaison between patient/family, payers, Patient Financial Services, and other health care team members. You'll be asked to facilitate patient tracking and billing by obtaining/verifying accurate and complete demographic information, financially securing, and collecting out-of-pocket responsibility from guarantors to maximize hospital reimbursement.
Essential Job Functions
Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all other hospital and government regulations applicable to the Admissions settings and in handling of Medical Records
Provide excellent customer service at all times by effectively meeting customer needs, understanding who the customers are, and building quality relationships
The Patient Access Specialist plays a role in protecting patient safety by ensuring each patient is properly identified and triaged when they arrive to the hospital
Answer telephone in a professional and courteous manner, record messages and communicate to appropriate medical staff
Provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents
Obtain, verify, and enter complete and accurate demographic information on all accounts to facilitate smooth processing through the revenue cycle
Verify insurance benefits for all plans associated with patient, confirming the correct payor and plan is entered into the patient accounting system
Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual insurance plans where applicable
Maximize the efficiency and accuracy of the collection process by pursuing collections at the time of service in a customer service-oriented fashion
Scan all registration and clinical documentation into the system and maintain all medical records
Assist with coordinating the transfer of patients to other hospitals when necessary
Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals
Maintain cash drawer according to policies
Maintain log of all patients, payments received, transfers and hospital admissions
Maintain visitor/vendor log
Other Job Functions
Maintain a clean working environment for the facility. This includes the front desk, restroom, waiting room, break area and patient rooms when assistance is needed by medical staff
Receive deliveries including mail from various carriers and forward to appropriate departments as needed
Notify appropriate contact of any malfunctioning equipment or maintenance needs
Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required
Assist medical staff as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required
2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting, preferred
Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred
Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
Basic understanding of medical terminology
Excellent customer service
Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook), strongly preferred.
Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication

Responsibilities:
+ Assist manager or Supervisor with administrative functions as they relate to the Pathologists' Assistant portion of the department including assisting with development of quality assurance monitors, quality control monitors, data gathering and preparations of QA report, input for performance reviews, budget preparation and monitoring, regulatory compliance and continuing education and training.
+ Oversee the proper handling, storage and disposition of all surgical and autopsy tissue while adhering to the regulatory and compliance standards regarding biohazard and safety.
+ Ensure that tests are prepared properly at all stages from specimen collection through results reporting, and performs additional special handling of the specimens if necessary or requested (i.e. radiography, photography, special fixation, cultures and tissue procurement).
+ Competent at operating the Laboratory Information System and Medical Archival Retrieval System relative to the functions of the pathology assistants' team.
+ Perform special projects such as research protocols when required.
+ Provide independent technical leadership, consulting with the Manager or Supervisor on unusual and complex cases, such as oncology cases where the tumor has spread into other organs, cancers that extend into surrounding structures, autopsies on complicated cases, and initial intraoperative examination and tissue banking for uncommon specimens of interest to research such as wide section melanomas and thoracic biopsies. Provides ongoing training and orientation to the pathology assistant team members.
+ Examine and prepare surgical pathology cases for microscopic evaluation by providing gross description, dissection and sections of each case as defined by the Surgical Pathology Manual while maintaining accurate records of all activities.
+ Participate in and performs frozen sections, intraoperative consultations, autopsies and prenatal procedures. File and retrieve surgical and autopsy materials and maintains accurate records of all such activities.
Senior Pathologist's Assistant:
+ Graduate of a NAACLS accredited, Master's degree pathologist's assistant training program, or Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology or a related field and 5 years clinical experience in Anatomic or Clinical Pathology is required.
+ One year working as a certified Pathologist's Assistant preferred.
Pathologist's Assistant:
+ Completion of 4-year degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology or meets AAPA requirements for college credits defined in the science disciplines from an accredited institution.
+ Prefer graduate of a NAACLS accredited, master's degree pathologist's assistant training program, or bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology or a related field and 5 years clinical experience in Anatomic or Clinical Pathology is required.
+ Analytical and technical ability necessary to independently evaluate patient specimens and clinical data to appropriate sample tissue relevant to diagnostic evaluation and recognize organ and tissue anomalies.
+ All procedures or job-related tasks involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues.
+ A potential for spills or splashes of biohazard substances does exist. Exposure to normal laboratory lights and noises and occasional exposure to toxic and carcinogenic chemicals.

The Division Chief will assume responsibilities for research and development within the division and connect these activities to the larger goals of the AHN Cancer Institute. Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) through IDCS or OCI IAM, including role setup, policies, single sign-on (SSO), and application/user provisioning.
Conduct proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and cost optimization of Oracle PaaS environments.
Implement and enforce security best practices, including encryption, patch management, vulnerability scanning, backup/recovery, access audits, Cloud Guard, and Data Safe, ensuring SOX compliance.
Provide frontline support for incident management, diagnosing and resolving platform issues, coordinating with IT teams and vendors, and documenting operational processes.
Develop and maintain automation scripts (Shell, Python) for streamlining tasks, ensuring peer review and version control.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, oversee licensing, manage change control, and develop recovery plans.
Collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, and security teams, and potentially mentor junior staff.

Position Overview
