The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scheduling in healthcare, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others in a long-term care setting.
Job Summary: The Long-Term Care Staffing Scheduler will be responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining the nursing staff schedules for our long-term care facility. This role ensures that the facility is properly staffed at all times, with the right mix of nursing personnel, to meet the needs of our residents. The Long-Term Care Staffing Scheduler will collaborate with the nursing leadership team and staff to ensure smooth operations and adequate coverage across all shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, manage, and update weekly and monthly nursing staff schedules.
Ensure optimal coverage for all nursing shifts, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other support staff.
Coordinate shift changes, vacation requests, and call-offs while maintaining adequate staffing levels.
Communicate with nursing staff to confirm shift assignments and handle scheduling conflicts.
Monitor staffing patterns and make adjustments as needed to meet facility requirements.
Track and report on attendance, overtime, and staffing shortages.
Maintain a positive and professional relationship with staff to foster a collaborative work environment.
Assist with onboarding new staff by providing training on scheduling procedures and software.
Ensure compliance with facility policies and labor laws.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
Previous experience in scheduling, particularly in a healthcare or long-term care setting, is required.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
Ability to work under pressure and handle unexpected staffing challenges.
Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and resolving scheduling issues.
Knowledge of nursing staff roles and responsibilities within a long-term care facility is a plus.

Serve as a subject matter expert on PDPM, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer-specific reimbursement systems.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistent documentation and coding practices.
Partner with clinical and financial leaders to align care documentation with reimbursement compliance.
Conduct regular audits of MDS accuracy, RAI processes, and supporting documentation.
Support education, training, and competency development for facility reimbursement teams.
Collaborate with regional and facility leadership to maintain regulatory readiness and survey compliance.
Represent the reimbursement department in interdisciplinary and corporate-level meetings.
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska (or compact state).
Minimum 5 years of MDS/clinical reimbursement experience, including PDPM.
Prior experience in post-acute care, long-term care, or skilled nursing facility management required.
Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, RAI guidelines, and clinical documentation requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Evaluate patients in their homes and develop individualized physical therapy treatment plans
Provide skilled physical therapy services in accordance with physician orders and plan of care
Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, mobility techniques, and injury prevention
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed
Accurately document evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and discharge summaries
Collaborate with interdisciplinary home care team members (nursing, OT, speech, social work)
Communicate effectively with physicians regarding patient status and progress
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and organizational regulations
Support patient independence, safety, and overall quality of life
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
Active Physical Therapist license in the state of Nebraska
Home health or outpatient experience preferred (new grads welcome)
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Work with volunteers providing direction and positive reinforcement.
What should I have to be considered?
Excellent people skills and enthusiasm are essential
1-2 years of experience with the aging population preferred.

Able to work independently with little supervision and have the ability to adapt to change quickly and often.
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist CTRS preferred.
