1906

1906: The Tulsa Hospital opens.

1916

1916: Oklahoma Hospital opens at West Ninth Street and Jackson Avenue and eventually is used to treat nervous and mental diseases.

1916: The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, a Catholic order, purchase a more than eight-acre tract southeast of town for $16,000.

1921

1921: American Red Cross opens Maurice Willows Hospital in north Tulsa to help victims of the Tulsa Race Riot.

1925

1925: Morningside builds a new structure at 16th Street and Utica Avenue, and the ownership passes to Mr. and Mrs.

1929

1929: The Hospital for Bone and Joint Diseases opens at 807 S. Elgin Ave.

1941

Flower Hospital occupies the old Morningside building until 1941.

1960

1960: Saint Francis Hospital opens with 275 beds.

1966

1966: Doctors' Hospital, formerly located at 2323 S. Harvard Ave., opens its doors, becoming the first hospital west of the Mississippi to be built completely with private funds.

1989

By 1989, the hospital and medical school close because of $25 million debt.

1990

1990: Cancer Treatment Centers of America opens its Southwestern Regional Medical Center in the CityPlex towers.

1994

The hospital expanded in 1994 to provide increased outpatient and diagnostic services and an on-campus medical office building.

1997

In 1997 the Meridia Health System became part of the Cleveland Clinic Health System.

1999

1999: SouthCrest Hospital is built as a venture of Hillcrest and Columbia HCA Healthcare Corp.

2004

2004: Ardent Health Services, a for-profit company, announces it will buy Hillcrest Healthcare System for $281.2 million.

2006

In 2006, the four hospitals (Meridia Euclid Hospital, Meridia Hillcrest Hospital, Meridia Huron Hospital, and Meridia South Pointe Hospital) were collectively known as the East Region Hospitals of the Cleveland Clinic Health System.

2021

25, 2021, an eluder plowed into a family’s SUV at highway speeds on a busy street in east Tulsa.
