Salary Schedule
A sworn law enforcement officer within the District Police portfolio is charged with delivering emergency management, law enforcement, school resource officer, K9 detection services, and safety and security services as assigned. As a state certified police officer within the OCPS District Police the incumbent is responsible for the investigation, pursuit, apprehension and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators. Employees in this class will be responsible for providing various law enforcement services and/or serving in assigned capacities within specialized law enforcement functions to facilities located throughout the District.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree from an accredited institution in criminal justice, public administration or related field or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
Three (3) years of experience as a police officer within an environment equal in scope to the duties and requirements of the position.
Certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida or have the FDLE Exemption Training form (CJSTC) 76 executed, which will give the ability to complete the Equivalency of Training (EOT) and become Florida State Certified
Possesses and maintains a valid Florida driver's license and proof of insurability at all times.
Pass a comprehensive law enforcement background investigation, criminal history check, fitness for duty medical examination, physical ability test, police psychological assessment and related selection criteria. Candidates may not possess any felony convictions or convictions related to domestic violence.
Must successfully complete Basic K-9 Detection (180 hours) courses; maintenance of all annual recertification as required.
One (1) Year of previous experience as a K-9 handler.
Place of residence with a securely fenced in yard.
The incumbent is considered to be “critical personnel” subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining Unit Compensation Plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.
Incumbent shall be subject to specialized training, background reviews and confidentiality and compliance requirements as outlined by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and other criminal justice agency user agreements so as to fulfill the duties of the position. The incumbent is considered to be “critical personnel” subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times. The incumbent may be assigned duties and tasks as determined appropriate and/or necessary by the OCPS District Police Agency Head or their designee. The position shall be exposed to confidential, restricted, and highly sensitive information requiring the utmost discretion and compliance with all administrative rules, directives, policies, procedures, regulations, and statutes governing its distribution.
Must agree to provide care and living quarters for a police canine through the duration of canine handler's employment. Must reside in a location that would not pose any health or environmental hazards to the K-9.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to meet and maintain all applicable standards related to law enforcement officer status as dictated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying law enforcement and public safety supervisory principles, practices, and techniques. Ability to perform the duties of a law enforcement supervisor directly responsible for providing direction to sworn police personnel and overseeing police field operations. Understanding and experience in the theory and practice of community-oriented policing and problem-solving. Proven ability to provide effective leadership during critical incidents and emergent situations. Proficiency in the use of standardized law enforcement, public safety and/or security equipment and technology. Working knowledge of current state laws, administrative rules, and school board policies as they relate to criminal justice, police, and public safety programs. Strong coalition-building skills capable of developing collaborative relationships with diverse external and internal cohorts. Excellent decision-making skills. Sound analytical, problem identification and resolution capabilities. Able to communicate verbally and in writing, effectively presenting ideas and providing plans, policies, and procedures in a clear and concise manner. MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:
Machines, tools, equipment, electronic devices, vehicles, etc., used in this position.
Automobile, Computer, Firearms, Handcuffs, Integrated Copies/Fax/Imager, Less Lethal Weapons, Radios, Telephone, Cameras, Calculators, Recording Devices, White Board System, and other position specific devices.
Must be able to use personal protective equipment and other law enforcement/public safety/security equipment as provided by the district. Incumbent shall demonstrate a high level of competency and meet certification and qualification standards in the use of assigned police equipment such as chemical spray agents, firearms, conducted electrical weapons, impact weapons and police vehicles. Position requires incumbent to possess a valid Florida driver's license and proof of insurability at all times. Incumbent must maintain access to a motor vehicle (personal or agency) on a regular basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires heavy work which necessitates the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed indoors and outdoors, and worker is exposed to hazards associated with law enforcement duties to include but not limited to making physical arrests, controlling violent offenders, responding to emergency situations, entering, and exiting vehicles quickly while wearing approximately 15 to 20 pounds of equipment and operating a police vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.
Duties will require the ability to respond to incidents after hours, and work extended hours on site, possibly under difficult and trying circumstances. Must maintain 24-hour availability via a wireless device capable of voice and data communications. The incumbent will be considered “essential personnel” subject to being called back to the office or a district location at all times.
Duties may expose individual to personal risks as they observe, report, and respond to potential and actual crimes in progress, hazards, incidents and/or emergencies. Position requires incumbents to work in all weather conditions, under extreme temperatures, around chemicals, chemical fumes, biohazards, and electrical and mechanical hazards. OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Salary Schedule
Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled to advanced craft-mechanical air conditioning and HVAC systems work in various installation, maintenance and service tasks for the school district. Employees in this classification perform master level HVAC trades work with considerable independence and latitude in judgment concerning methods, materials, and priority of assigned work orders. Position is responsible for ensuring provision of fresh, environmentally safe, and dehumidified cooled or heated conditioned air for the assigned region of the district. Essential functions as outlined herein are performed according to the functional area of assignment. Performs related work as directed.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
Performs skilled to advanced craft-mechanical air conditioning and HVAC trades work in various installation, repair, maintenance and service tasks for an assigned region of the school district.
Observes and tests malfunctioning systems to determine cause and appropriate corrective action; reads blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals as applicable to new installations or assigned service/repair orders.
Installs, maintains or services systems and components, to include setting and adjustment of pneumatic controls, replacement of defective components, and preventive maintenance and system monitoring.
Installs, services or replaces components including, but not limited to, compressors, window units, electric motors, bearings, shafts, fans, blowers, pumps, valves, piping, screens, filters, switches, sensors, lines, pressure gauges, drain pans, and valves.
Performs routine testing tasks in monitoring systems performance, i.e., starters and coils, relays and flow switches, voltage and amperage, pumping capacities, transformers, overloads, seals and bearings, equipment calibration.
Troubleshoots, adjusts, calibrates, repairs, and replaces electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems and devices.
Performs preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules, i.e., acid washing coils, replacing insulation and ductwork, replacing rusted components, checking belts for wear and lines for leaks, checking integrity of wiring.
Monitors systems functioning for the purpose of recognizing potential problems; addresses such accordingly.
Ensures compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building, and safety standards regarding HVAC systems installation, service and repair activities.
Fills out and maintains work orders and purchase orders for required materials, supplies and equipment; maintains daily activity logs and associated data records concerning the assigned HVAC systems.
Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles utilized; ensures adherence to principles and practices of safe equipment use and operation.
Responds to emergency or critical incidents in order to confine, resolve, and/or prevent environmentally hazardous conditions.
Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Vocational/technical training in heating, air condition, refrigeration and ventilation; supplemented by minimum (5) years progressively knowledgeable and skilled trades work in the field, the majority of which shall be for a large commercial or industrial institution, with demonstrated equipment troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, and ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and technical specifications; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requires ability to obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license class “D”; requires training in refrigerant handling and recovery.
Effective August 24, 2009, all new hires to this position must successfully complete the Industrial Physical Capability Screening (IPCS); previous incumbents holding this position without a break in service are not required to have this screening.

What You'll Do - Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
Review IEPs designed by Supervising Speech Language Pathologist and ARD Committee and ensure 100% implementation of extensive knowledge and provide top quality speech therapy services.
Implement the treatment program or the Individual Education Program (IEP) by utilizing therapeutic interventions that are aligned to instruction with the collaboration of parents, general educators, special educators, and interventionists.
Provide appropriate feedback to students as to accuracy of their responses
Use appropriate stimuli, cues/prompts with the student to elicit behaviors as defined in the treatment protocol
Maintain on task or redirect off task behavior of students in individual or group treatment, consistent with developmental age, communication style, and disorder
Provide culturally appropriate treatment materials and behavioral reinforcement consistent with the student's developmental age, culture and disorder
Monitor students' therapy and academic progress throughout the year in order to provide the supervising SLP an update on students' goals.
Appropriately pace treatment session to ensure maximum student response
Implement designated treatment objectives/goals in specific appropriate sequence
Maintain Therapy Notes, Tracking Logs, and Billing logs on a daily basis and review with the Manager and Supervising SLP on a weekly basis.
Submit Therapy Logs on a Quarterly Basis to their Manager.
Maintain SHARS (Medicaid) records and submit SHARS billing on a monthly basis.
Ensure and monitor students' progress in order to complete progress reports on a quarterly basis under the supervision of the Supervising SLP.
Complete documentation by district timelines
Obtain co-signature of supervising SLP on documentation
Use professional terminology correctly in communication with supervising SLP
Uphold ethical behavior as per State Guidelines
