Under the supervision of Finger Lakes Institute (FLI) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges staff and Finger Lakes Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (FL PRISM), AIS Technicians will assist in fieldwork, outreach, and education related to high-priority and emerging aquatic invasive species (AIS) including hydrilla, water chestnut, starry stonewort, fanwort, parrotfeather, and more. AIS Technicians will primarily participate in aquatic plant surveys around the Finger Lakes region. Techs will also work with managers to physically remove high-priority species such as water chestnut. Gain valuable experience, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute to regional conservation efforts through seasonal work. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES · Support field work addressing terrestrial invasive species regionally · Participate in survey and management efforts for AIS · Collect and submit accurate field data following established protocols · Use motorboats, canoes, and kayaks to navigate waterways · Work under minimal and distant supervision; must make independent decisions based on experience and judgment · Drive and assist with campus-owned vehicles with trailers attached, including loading and unloading trailers and gear · Attend training conducted by the Finger Lakes Institute and Finger Lakes PRISM staff · Use watercraft, hip waders, and other tools to physically remove invasive plants from known locations in the Finger Lakes · Help lead or monitor work groups consisting of volunteers covering a wide geographic area OTHER INFORMATION: This is a seasonal (summer), non-benefits-eligible position. The Anthony Lester Fellowships support lawyers or law students undertaking practical fieldwork in human rights/ the rule of law. The fellowships honour the memory and legacy of Anthony Lester QC (Lord Lester of Herne Hill), one of Britain's most distinguished human rights lawyers. As a young lawyer, he twice visited the American South during the civil rights movement and wrote a report on race relations. His experiences there inspired his pioneering work as a barrister and legislator. The Anthony Lester Fellowships are intended to support lawyers and law students early in their careers to undertake a project of their choosing that helps affect positive, practical change in relation to the rule of law and human rights, inspired by his experience. The Early Pre-Professional Career Advisor provides academic advising and graduate program guidance through individual coaching, advising, and programming to undergraduate students in pre-health and pre-law programs. They will serve as the first point of contact for early-phase students interested in pre-health, allied health, other helping professions, and pre-law. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Planning & Construction and works with design professionals in architectural and engineering fields, the State University Construction Fund (SUCF), Office of the State Comptroller, SUNY System Administration, Facilities Services, Planning & Construction and campus customers on the design, construction and administration of campus projects. The Project Manager works closely with the aforementioned individuals and entities to provide the best possible design and construction within time, scope and budget, while minimizing the negative impacts of construction on campus operations. The incumbent in this position is expected to work in a team environment. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Be familiar with and assure compliance with all applicable SUNY procedures, identify project scope of work, solicit consultants for design services, assist in project design reviews of drawings and specifications, assist in the bidding process,managing the construction progress and facilitating the flow of information to and from the construction team and end users. Duties include management of consultant and contractor compliance reporting of MWBE and SDVOB compliance, preparations of contracts packages to the Office of State Comptroller and physical space inventory updates. The successful candidates will contribute to undergraduate courses in both economics and data analytics.
