About the position:
Hogan & Associates Construction has immediate openings for GENERAL LABORERS . General Laborers perform a variety of tasks such as removing forms from set concrete, inspecting, fixing, and maintaining company tools and equipment, loading and unloading materials, grade gravel or dirt by hand, assist everyone on the jobsite, runs errands, etc. A Laborer operates small equipment such as a skid steer and compaction equipment. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to projects along the Wasatch front. Employment offers are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug test and a background check.
Qualifications:
High school diploma preferred.
Must have reliable transportation.
Able to work along the Wasatch front (from Brigham City UT to Springville UT and everywhere in between).
Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and continue to pass random drug tests.
Able to pass a background check.
Maintains tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
Eligible to work in the United States.
Work Hours:
8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime as necessary or until work is completed. Shifts (day, swing and night) and work assignments may vary as deemed necessary by management.

Core Responsibilities:
Set forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.
Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.
Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.
Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or specialty tools.
Produce rough concrete surface, using broom.
Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, or straightedge.
Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and moving chute, to direct concrete into forms.
Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete.
Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.
Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete.
Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete.
Waterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds.
Wet concrete surface and rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specified finish.
Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout, slurry, or epoxy.
Direct subgrade work, mixing concrete, and setting forms for beams, columns, and panels.
Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.
Perform clean-up in connection with the work.
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards of safety.
Assist Construction Laborers with labor duties.

Requirements and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).
A minimum of 3 years of concrete finishing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Summary: Hughes General Contractors, Inc. is actively searching for several experienced CONCRETE FINISHERS to join our growing team! Individuals will perform tasks involving commercial construction projects in the SLC, Ogden, & Provo Utah area.

Be able to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete such as floors, walks, curb/gutter using a variety of hand and power tools.
Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
Be willing to work in somewhat extreme weather conditions
Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent/Foreman, Safety Manager, Safety Officer or HR Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
Ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (50 pounds)
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions

Education, Training and Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with concrete

* May direct sub-grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
* This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone. The ability to read printed materials, signs and directions. The stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
* This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime, weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience preferred.
