Job Description
UL Solutions, will be installing a
solar monitoring system (SMS
) near
Holbrook, AZ
on behalf of one of our Clients. The station occupies 650ft2 and consists of a solar panels, (2) 7-foot tripods, and scientific measurement equipment surrounded by a locked chain link fence. The station will be monitoring the solar irradiance as well as other meteorological and weather-related parameters.
The station requires weekly maintenance, on the same day each week during daylight hours to ensure consistent and accurate data is being collected for a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 2 years
. Your duties will include the following:
Uphold highest level of communication as first point of contact for equipment in field;
Ensure all equipment is level & clean on a weekly basis;
Provide troubleshooting (w/support from UL Solutions) and when requested, repair(s) for low-medium complexity issues;
Ensure there is no debris obstructing the system (depending on site/region, grass cutting, snow removal, or clearing brush); and
Confirm the system is secure and hasn't been tampered with.
Each maintenance visit should take 60-90 minutes. UL Solutions requires a weekly excel logbook uploaded via internet along with photos and other documentation to support the visit which should take 45-90 minutes. The entire process is estimated to require between 2-4 hours each week, including travel time to and from site.
Occasionally, UL Solutions may request your assistance in replacing or troubleshooting equipment. A Senior Engineer would contact you to walk you through the process. They will support you while onsite and review data after the equipment repair.
Qualifications
No solar experience is required. Training will be provided remotely via phone and video, potential onsite training when possible.
Must be able to take instruction remotely throughout length of contract term.
Must use own transportation to and from remote SMS location. The SMS is located on undeveloped lands accessed via unpaved roads, so 4WD/AWD vehicle will be required
Willing/able to walk to and from site, typically no more than ¼ mile in one direction.
Required to climb and work comfortably from a 6 or 8-foot ladder (provided).
Required maintenance of equipment utilizing levels, screwdriver, and other hand tools (provided).

Holbrook USD #3 is a major recipient of Federal Impact Aid funding, compensating for the large percentage of tax-exempt federal and tribal lands within its boundaries. This reliable federal funding stream along with other federal funding provides an additional 40% of the overall budget capacity at HUSD #3. Federal funding provides the flexibility to support innovative instructional programs, maintain smaller class sizes (average 22:1 student-to-teacher ratio), and offer competitive professional development opportunities. Summary
Our Cholla Power Plant Substation crew has an immediate opening for a Substation Journeyman. The work hours for this position are Monday- Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM (AZ/MST)
Minimum Requirements:
* High School Diploma or G.E.D.
* Completed a Registered Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) PLUS one year experience as a Journeyman Electrician
* Commercial Driver's License (Class "A") with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record.
* If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date.
* If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
* Must live within reasonable distance (one (1) hour) from assigned Headquarters.

* This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less.
