Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all work adhering to OSHA, PA and DoT regulations, and H&K Safety policies
Reviews job orders and observes and listens to equipment in operators/truck drivers/shop leaders to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
Identify parts for repairs or replacement for all systems on equipment/trucks when needed.
Examines protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices on equipment/trucks and makes adjustments.
Dismantles equipment/trucks to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal.
Assembles and test operates machine or test drive trucks to verify correction of malfunction and to confirm that it meets manufactures specifications.
Overhauls gas or diesel engines.
Performs diagnostics through the use of computers and carious equipment.
Performs front end inspection and alignments.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR relevant experience and/or training
CDL B
Clean driving record
Customer Service and Teamwork
General computer knowledge as well as caterpillar software (ET &SIS)
Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder
Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience
Related experience and/or training
High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
Technical school or college in the heavy equipment field
Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
CDL A

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. In accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards, take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times.
Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment. Lubricate, clean, and perform other small services on heavy mobile and stationary equipment to maximize performance and limit downtime.
Inspect Equipment and Material. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and schedule equipment services based on the company and manufacturer's recommendations. Routinely perform oil samples, interpret results, and make recommendations based on analysis.
Document and Record Information. Ensure that correct and accurate documentation regarding all equipment is completed daily and monthly. Enter and maintain service reports for all the equipment in written or electronic form.
Handle and Move Objects. Safely handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools throughout the shop and plant.
Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred-prior experience with CAT SIS or ET programs is highly desired.
Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
Working Ability. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Purpose:
Independently perform in-field equipment service, diagnostics and repairs by operating a mobile service vehicle and traveling to customer locations. Candidates require a strong work
