Hollenbeck Palms company history timeline

1890

A non-profit 501( c)(3) continuing care retirement community, Hollenbeck Palms was founded in 1890 by Elizabeth Hollenbeck and is the very first licensed community in California.

1891

A major one was the Orphans’ Asylum, operated by Roman Catholic nuns, and the new facility, completed in November 1891 at Boyle and 9th (now Whittier Boulevard), remained in the community for decades.

1925

1926

Later in 1926, this became the first ever-licensed nursing home in California.
