The name Holt became part of Texas history in 1933, when Benjamin’s second son, William K. Holt, was awarded the Cat® dealership for South and Central Texas.
In the 1950’s, Bill Holt brought two of his nephews into the dealership – B.D. Holt and Holt Atherton.
In 1961, B.D. Holt purchased Bill Holt’s assets in the 20 southern counties of the William K. Holt territory and established B.D. Holt Co. as a Caterpillar dealer with headquarters in Corpus Christi.
In 1963, Holt Atherton purchased Bill Holt’s assets in the northern 40 counties of the William K. Holt territory and established Holt Machinery Co. with its headquarters in San Antonio.
In 1969, B.D. Holt and his partner Mark Hulings formed Energy Industries, Inc. to manufacture and market gas compressors powered by Caterpillar engines.
In 1972 he built a modern, new branch store to serve the Austin market.
Peter M. Holt, B.D. Holt’s son, joined the B.D. Holt Co. in 1973, later becoming Chief Executive Officer of the Holt Companies and pushing forward with a diversification program.
In 1985, he was appointed as Caterpillar dealer for the western half of Ohio.
In 1987, B.D. Holt Co. acquired controlling interest in Holt Machinery Co. and merged the two territories of the original William K. Holt Machinery Co. to form Holt Company of Texas.
The result was the creation of the Holt Companies mission statement and core business values in 1988, which serve as the centerpiece of a quality oriented, values-based management process called Values-Based Leadership®.
Energy Industries enjoyed tremendous success and as part of the Holt Companies’ business strategy, it was sold in 1993.
Beki joined Northrop Grumman in 1995 and served in multiple human resources roles throughout her 20 year career there.
Paul began his career with HOLT in 1996 selling electric power generation in the DFW market and served as Commercial Engine Sales Manager prior to his current position.
Jason joined HOLT CAT in 1999 as a Product Support Sales Representative in Austin.
Paul joined HOLT CAT in 2000 and is part of the senior leadership team that has overseen dramatic sales growth and geographic expansion over the last two decades.
In 2002, he was promoted to District Sales Manager over the Corpus Christi and Victoria territories.
Sean began his career at Holt Cat in 2004 as a Financial Marketing representative and subsequently moved into Prime Product Sales.
Prior to joining HOLT in 2006, Michael owned MVP Operations, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in professional sports marketing and operations.
Following a 6 year term in sales management, in 2008 he earned the position of Heavy Rental Fleet Manager in San Antonio, reporting to Bob Harwood.
Also in 2010 he starred in a mathematics segment for NBC-TV on the Today Show and throughout the 2010 Winter Olympic coverage.
That television appearance won him a 2010 Telly Award.
Corinna joined HOLT CAT in 2011 as a trainee in HOLT’s Leadership Training Program.
In 2012, after completing a comprehensive rotation through every department in the company, she served in various Product Support management roles.
In 2013, Bill served as Regional Sales Manager for the Austin, TX market.

Don joined Holt in January 2015 leading the company’s journey in the development of a stand-alone rental services company, Texas First Rentals.
Brandon joined Holt Cat in 2016 as a Regional Service Manager after spending 10 years with our OEM partner, Caterpillar Inc.
Guy has taught in the St Mary’s Executive MBA program and has facilitated leadership programs for the San Antonio Area Foundation since 2016.
In 2017, Peter John and Corinna purchased 100% interest in HOLT CAT®, beginning the next chapter in the Holt family legacy.
