Holy Rosary Medical Center company history timeline

1910

Our legacy began August 15, 1910, when the Presentation Sisters assumed management and later purchased the County Hospital in Miles City, renaming it Holy Rosary Hospital.

Founded in 1910, we’re part of SCL Health, a nonprofit faith-based health system with eight hospitals, more than 150 physician clinics, and home health, hospice, mental health and safety-net services primarily in Colorado and Montana.

1911

The sisters arrived in Baker City March 24, 1911.

1912

The Sisters, who by this time had been joined by several nuns from Portugal, became quite busy, and April 17, 1912, Holy Rosary's first patient, a Mrs.

1941

A convent was built in 1941, which opened the third floor, where the sisters had been living, for an obstetrical unit.

1951

Immediately after World War II, a three-story addition was begun on the south side of the building, and the permanent hospital chapel was built in 1951.

1995

In 1995, a modern health facility was built on a unified campus with total healthcare services available in a single location.

1997

SCL Health became the sole owner in 1997, purchasing Holy Rosary Healthcare as an integral part of a growing, faith-based, nonprofit healthcare system.
