A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis. + Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate. + Perform advanced respiratory care modalities. + Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes. + Educate the patient and family about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other available programs. + At sites where applicable, the employee will perform blood gas puncture and analysis. Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: + Associate's Degree and graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy program . + Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). + Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board licensure. + Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: + Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care + Prior experience in critical care + ACLS, PALS credentialing through the AHA.
