HOM Furniture company history timeline
JC Imports was founded in 1973 when Wayne Johansen opened a small wholesale and retail import gift business.
In 1979, a friend convinced him to convert one of his retail gift shops into a waterbed retail outlet.
Recognizing the need to expand product line to capture greater market share, three HOM Oak & Leather showrooms opened in 1990.
In 1993, to expand their customer reach, all Waterbed Room showrooms were converted to Total Bedroom showrooms, along with further expansion of HOM Oak & Leather.
In 1996 HOM Oak & Leather and Total Bedroom were merged into one entity, HOM Furniture, making HOM a complete full-line furniture retailer.
In 2007, Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture unveiled a five million dollar renovation – a top to bottom remodel.
In August of 2008, Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furnishings was acquired by HOM Furniture.
In March of 2015, the largest furniture complex in Minnesota opened in Little Canada.
