TRC Advanced Energy (TRC), a nationally known consultancy, is seeking a Project Associate to support various technical operations for a large-scale multifamily energy efficiency program in California. This position is ideal for a candidate with 2-5 years of professional experience in the energy sector and relationship-building skills to grow with our company. This is a customer-facing position that requires strong communication, attention to detail, and business acumen. Previous experience with utility programs, building performance principles, renewable/energy efficiency technologies, Title 24, benchmarking, or construction management is highly desirable. The position will be located in one of TRC's California offices: Encinitas, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland or Rancho Cordova (Sacramento). Remote working is currently in effect.
JOB DUTIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Collectively support program Operations Lead, Technical Manager, and Case Managers to deliver comprehensive program services to multifamily customers and contractors
* Play a key role in supporting energy efficiency project close-outs and distribution of large-scale payments (e.g., $100,000+) for multifamily properties owners and contractors
* Conduct property-level benchmarking using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
* Maintain customer relationship management (CRM) database
* Maintain a strong proficiency in program requirements for consulting with enrolled and prospective customers regarding program participation
* Provide professional customer support on a range of items including program requirements, technical assistance, problem-solving, and timely project status updates
* Collect, analyze, and maintain project data with a high level of accuracy
* Support the maintenance and data accuracy of the program's online database
* Provide project design and technical assistance support to Operations Lead and Case Managers
* Keep informed of program changes, incentive reservation status, and other information of interest to customers
* Draft and deliver professional reports to program management and customers
* Establish and maintain high standards of work, communication, and deliverables
* Coordinate regularly with program team members, including engineering and management staff

In this client facing project management role, you will be responsible for coordinating, managing and assisting with audits and using broad and deep system set-up and adjudication knowledge, to develop complex queries to assist in the analysis. This position will also be expected to be analytical, able to understand regulation and identify process enhancement opportunities to reduce or eliminate risk of future client audit exceptions. As a senior advisor of Client Audit, you will be responsible for the following:

* Work directly with the government auditors, the client and all the internal business areas involved in the audit
* Manage the work load successfully as there is no room for error with government audits and these audits come in waves across many clients at the same time which the position needs to be able to juggle all of the competing priorities
* Have a deep knowledge base of Medicaid and Exchange regulations, as well as having some knowledge around Med D
* Work independently with limited direction from the Sr Manager
* Coordinate, manage, track the audits from start to closure
* Review and researching all questions from the auditor and client
* Work through and resolving any alleged issues; working strategically and achieving results
* Work with the right business leaders to ensure responses are accurate and senior leaders are aware of any issues in accordance with regulatory timelines
* Respond back to the auditor / client
* Understand the intricacies of claim adjudication in order to answer questions related to the various claim testing sections, answering their questions correctly and confidently
* Identify process enhancements, as well as any gaps in controls within the business areas being audited
* Raise the appropriate items to senior leaders and doing so timely
* Documenting correspondence with internal partners, clients, and auditors
* Tracking all audit progress to ensure that all deliverables are provided by due dates

This position is being added to support the continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, particularly in the utility resource planning and advisory practice areas. Our Consulting group works with clients across the United States and in numerous other countries.

Responsibilities

This position has the option to be remote/virtual. Candidate can be based anywhere within the United States.

This position in Sargent & Lundy's Consulting group will require you to focus on our resource planning projects and associated production cost modeling activities, such as the following:

+ Input data gathering for the models:

+ Review existing and planned generators cost and performance parameters

+ Review and incorporate load forecasts

+ Review applicable energy and fuel contracts

+ Evaluate applicable transmission network characteristics

+ Model development and benchmarking:

+ Develop and run production cost models in PLEXOS or PROMOD IV

+ Verify model outputs against historical system data

+ Scenario modeling and analysis:

+ Evaluate various scenarios of generation and energy storage portfolios

+ Perform sensitivity analyses

+ Perform NPV and financial analysis

+ Perform other electric system planning studies

+ Other job duties as a Senior Consultant may also include:

+ Preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables such as reports, studies, and calculations

+ Collaborating with teammates to define project execution plans

+ Monitoring project schedules and budgets

+ Basic knowledge of PPAs and U.S. power markets - energy, capacity, and ancillary services

+ Experience in detailed use case analysis of battery energy storage projects is a plus.

+ Experience in forward-looking congestion analysis is a plus.

+ Experience in development of power project financial models is a plus.

Also very important are:

+ Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

+ Strong proficiency in Excel.

+ Experience in writing technical reports and proposals.
