As a Behavioral Health RN, you'll care for patients with psychiatric conditions, emotional disorders, and substance abuse challenges. You'll assess mental health needs, implement individualized care plans, and support patient safety in a secure, therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, monitor, and document patient mental health status and behaviors
Administer medications and monitor for side effects or reactions
Implement therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques
Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and coping strategies
Maintain a safe environment in accordance with facility policies and state regulations
Requirements:
Active RN license (Compact license preferred)
BLS certification required; CPI or PMAB certification preferred
Minimum 1 year of recent behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
Strong communication, observation, and crisis management skills
Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-stress situations
