Home Timber & Hardware Group company history timeline

1993

In March 1993, and with a bold turquoise and orange identity, Home Timber & Hardware was launched as the result of a merger between Home Saver Timber & Hardware and Homestead Hardware.

And still along for the ride is our two loveable canine buddies, Rusty and Sandy, who became same about when the brand was formed in 1993 and continue in their ‘dog ambassador’ roles to this day.

1994

Also of interest during the decade, Home Hardware, in 1994, began publishing its own hardware magazine, Home at Home.

1996

At the end of 1996, the company topped the C$1 billion threshold in annual sales.

1999

On a more somber note, Hachborn's long-time partner Henry Sittler died in January 1999.

1999: Beaver Lumber is acquired.

2001

To keep up with its steady growth, Home Hardware continued to add warehouse and distribution space, so that by early 2001 it passed the two-million-square-foot mark.

2011

Home Hardware Center joined the Central Network Retail Group of stores in May of 2011.

2014

Home Hardware Center celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2014!

2016

In 2016 Home Timber & Hardware joined the Metcash family to support its goal of championing independent hardware and family-run businesses.
