The hire extra staff around the holidays so I was able to pick up a minimum wage job for a few weeks around Christmas back in high school. The store was reasonably quiet because the business was already failing due to the rise of internet shopping. Since there was so little to do it was a pretty easy job.
Pretty much everything about the store was awful. There was always an overbearing potpourri smell. Management was always up everyones' asses about not doing anything (because there was nothing to do). The hours were pretty crappy (short shifts, meaning I wasted more gas commuting which made the low wages hurt even more) and the job came with next to no perks. It was just a crappy minimum wage job which wasted a good chunk of my holiday.
Getting laid off.
