    After School Program /School Age Child Care (SACC) TITLE: SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE (SACC) STUDENT PROGRAM ASSISTANT REPORTS TO : School Age Child Care Director EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, part time FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in providing before and/or after school child care at an assigned building. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist the Team Leader or Program Asst. to implement the daily lesson plans that reflect the philosophy of the program. Help the Team Leader or Program Asst. prepare and distribute breakfast and/or snacks; and assist students in those activities. Use positive behavior management strategies, including clear routines, breaks, assign tasks, state expected behavior, tangible reinforcers. Assist children in making good choices; if discipline is needed, refer to the Program Asst. or Team Leader. Provide information so Team Lead/Asst. can complete accident reports according to written directions. Read and initial the staff book daily. Help maintain an inventory of supplies and materials; record needs on the central shopping list. Work cooperatively with parents and the school staff. Complete training programs as assigned by the SACC Director; for example, first aid and child abuse. Observe all safety, health and confidentiality regulations of the licensing agency and the school district. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a role model for students in the practice of ethical principles, responsible behavior and democratic values. Maintain an appropriate personal appearance. Perform other duties as assigned by the School Age Child Care Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Min. 14 years of age required. Current high school student Previous experience in a child care setting is preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Skill in implementing recreational activities and in problem solving. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to interact effectively with both children and adults. Ability to meet the time requirements of the School Age Child Care program, and willingness to work at any of the Marysville Schools. Willingness to participate in any recommended training program. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Computer/Printer. Educational/recreational equipment Playground and sports equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. Occasional exposure to unruly children. Frequent exposure to children running and using sports equipment. Potential exposure to angry and distraught adults.
