Roles and responsibilities • Monitor, support, maintain, and enhance associated storage, backups, and data replication for Sysplexes • Analyze and determine cause of Mainframe DASD space concerns • Configure Mainframe DASD space capacity where required • Analyze and configure required SMS modifications • Analyze and configure required Mainframe ACS code modifications • Monitor DASD storage resources for performance and available space • Process required Mainframe SMS construct modifications online using TSO logon • Test all changes using the test environment prior to installation. • Analyze, identify and perform catalog reorg's • Analyze and configure management class constructs defining retention requirements for data sets. • Analyze and configure Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) parameter library members assigned to control execution • Fulfill SNOW ticket requests for mainframe customers in a timely manner as they pertain to Mainframe Storage administration and related products • Analyze and perform the steps to reorganize control data sets • Support and configure IBM Mainframe storage management disciplines utilizing DF/SMS ACS routines • Review Mainframe DASD storage thresholds to determine adequate space availability • Analyze and determine cause of DASD space concerns • Analysis of Mainframe DASD storage usage availability • Provide estimates and recommendation of DASD and storage requirements • Configure DASD storage space available to correct DASD space shortage • Review Mainframe backup schedules to determine adequate recoverability • Review data replication resource availability and status • Analyze, determine and provide resolution of DASD backup and data replication failures • Document, report and address in ticketing system, the status of tape storage availability issues • Review Mainframe DASD performance with 3rd party vendor personnel verbally and in writing • Brief management, customer, team, or vendors using written or oral skills at appropriate technical level for audience • Provide DASD and tape storage administration support for our customers • Manage storage pools for multiple customers and LPARs • Perform problem diagnostics and resolution • Create and oversee jobs for daily, weekly, and monthly backups • Perform data and volume recovery • Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis across multiple time zones • Interact with hardware and software vendors as required • Maintain documentation of issue cause, action, and resolution in the designated problem tracking system. • In joint co-operation with the Disaster Recovery Services and other technical teams, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans • Aid and assist other mainframe teams as required to support them and our clients. • Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations • Follow SNOW change control procedures Qualifications • Experience with z System architectures (z/OS/z/VM) • Must have experience with DASD • Must have experience with storage • Knowledge in z/OS , z/VM, SMP/E, JES/EJES , TSO / ISPF , DFSMS Management, Capacity Management, VTAM, and JCL • Knowledge on hardware such as IBM TS7700 series and EMC, VMAX • Experience in Installation and using IBM TS7700 series and EMC, replication software • Must be able to support 24 x 7 x 365 basis across multiple time zones • Knowledge of MS teams • Knowledge and experience with SAS • Understanding of JES3 • Knowledge of doing SMF or RMF research • Ability to perform ISPF commands to manipulate data file editing Education: • Master's degree (computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline) and 10 years of prior relevant experience • Ten (10) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (20 years total) Clearance: • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation Location: • Remote, USA • Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST)
