ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and sustainment of cutting-edge navigation and sensor solutions for a variety of applications. Your experience as a Mechanical Engineer will ensure the delivery of innovative and high-performance mechanical designs. You will report directly to our Mechanical Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Minneapolis, MN location on a Hybrid (3+ on-site) work schedule.
In this role, you will be critical in the mechanical design process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable navigation and sensor products. Your responsibilities will include the mechanical design and drafting of our navigation and sensor products using CREO Parametric. You will also conduct Finite Element Analysis to validate designs, performing thermal and structural analysis to optimize product performance using NX Simcenter. Finally, you will support test and production to ensure the timely resolution of issues to deliver product on schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Utilize CREO Parametric software for 3D modeling, design, and drafting of Printed Board Assemblies, mechanical enclosures, and assemblies.
* Conduct Finite Element Analysis (thermal and structural) using NX Simcenter to ensure adequate electronics packaging and Printed Board Assembly performance.
* Conduct fatigue analyses (vibration and thermally-induced) using Ansys Sherlock and/or CALCE SARA
* Support production and test to help resolve issues (e.g., MRB, RCCA, etc).
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mechanical requirements and specifications.
* Design, develop, and analyze complex navigation and sensor components and assemblies.
* Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in mechanical design, Printed Board Assembly design, and electronics packaging.
YOU MUST HAVE
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
* 5 years+ of experience in mechanical design and development
* 5 years+ of experience with ASME Y14 standards

* Guide engineers, technicians and associates to ensure project and product requirement compliance.
* Clearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages via presentations and in writing to a variety of technical audiences including leadership and external customers.
* Consult with suppliers to ensure product and project compliance.

MUST HAVE:

You will execute engineering tasks as part of cross-functional team on new product development programs responsible for concept architecture, requirements, design, analysis, and test of inertial sensors products over a wide range of operational environments for Commercial, Defense and Space customers.

Key Responsibilities:
Execute Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and development project tasks (architecture and planning, requirement definition, analog/digital/power-conversion circuit design, analysis, Printed Board (PB) layout review, and verification/test, etc.) by following established engineering methodologies for new hardware development.
Guide engineers, technicians and associates to ensure project and product requirement compliance.
Clearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages via presentations and in writing to a variety of technical audiences including leadership and external customers.
Consult with suppliers to ensure product and project compliance.
Communicate any non-compliance incidents and results of internal project audits to stakeholders.
Identify and execute cost, schedule, and technical efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
4+ years' Electrical Engineering experience.
2+ years experience in lab testing and debugging complex electronic circuits
WE VALUE:
Significant experience working with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and logic analyzers to characterize and solve problems in electronics circuit card assemblies.
Experience designing with modern processing technologies and architectures including micro-processors, FPGAs, and ASICs; DDR and flash memories; high speed physical and wireless communication and interconnects; and interfaces to sensors and guidance electronics.
Proficiency with Mentor Graphics Xpedition Enterprise Design Suite, HyperLynx analysis (Signal and Power Integrity), Timing Analysis, Decoupling Analysis, and LTSpice.
Strong aptitude for low noise analog and sensor interface design and analysis, signal processing and conversion.
Strong SPICE simulation experience including parametric modification and validation including Monte Carlo technique.
Ability to generate PB layout constraint guidelines, oversee the layout and fabrication of the design.
Experience ensuring designs meet the industry standards of DO-254 for Avionics Hardware Development and Certification.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet expectations of internal and external customers.
Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done.
Ability to make timely decisions while balancing risk.
