From initial education to comprehensive pharmaceutical care, your expertise will support patients throughout their cancer journey. WL Nugent Cancer Center - Join us as the largest cancer treatment provider in northwest Arizona, equipped with cutting-edge technologies and skilled expertise. These capabilities enable us to provide highly effective treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy. Collaborate closely with the Cancer Center's medical staff, engaging in patient visits, distribution activities, and investigational drug studies. Our partnership with the National Cancer Institute's Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) brings clinical trials to our community allowing us to expand access to cancer management, prevention, screening, and cancer care delivery. Outpatient Infusion Center - Contribute to providing a safe and comfortable environment for infusion therapy in partnership with Amerita Specialty Infusion Services. Patients have access to a wide range of treatments, including antibiotic therapy, biologicals, blood product administration (IVIG), blood transfusions, hydration, iron replacement, and pain management. Key Responsibilities: Supervises, coordinates, and participates in the preparation, labeling and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies; ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics and maintenance of all required records. Plan and schedule work for the shift group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties. Train new personnel and assist in staff and patient education programs/activities. Compile charges for prescriptions filled; maintain accountability and cost records on drugs and pharmaceutical supplies prepared and dispensed. Maintain interface with medical staff to provide information pertaining to new pharmaceutical supplies, formulary, drug usage and compatibility and new regulations regarding drug controls. Compound, package and label ointments, solutions and bulk pharmaceutical supplies according to standard formulas; mix prescribed drugs with intravenous solutions as required. Maintain and support the hospital formulary and inventory, reorder and stock medication and supplies as required. Perform related medication distribution and other pharmaceutical clinical duties. Essential Functions: * Selects, compounds, dispenses and preserves drug therapy and other therapeutic agents as prescribed by an authorized medical practitioner in compliance with established standards and age appropriateness * Reviews patient chart for drug sensitivities, drug interactions, incompatibilities , dosage and therapy treatment in accordance with patient diagnosis and conditions * Meets with patient, patient family and/or responsible party to verify understanding of medication, potential drug interactions, possible side effects, storage and instructions regarding usage; documents in patient chart * Organizes and maintains drug information sources; responds to questions/requests from medical, nursing and other hospital staff * Prepares sterile products for patient administration; determines proper preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and stability requirements of product. * Researches pharmacological information as needed to ensure appropriateness of treatment * Performs unit dose distribution, intravenous prep, additive and clinical rounds as a member of the healthcare team; responds to emergency situations by assisting with drug therapy * Serves as therapeutic consultant to medical staff to ensure medication therapy is rational * Actively participates in a variety of infection control, patient care policy formulation and drug selection committees * Prepares lectures and demonstrations for members of the Community and staff; assists in training program of Pharmacy students * Periodically inspects drugs in clinics and storerooms for adequacy, overstocking, arrangement, storage, proper rotation and evidence of deterioration * Performs primary care of patients with stable chronic conditions requesting medication refill and patient with acute self-limiting diseases in accordance with established standards of care * Maintains stock control records, narcotic records and inventories to ensure compliance with legal and administrative requirements * Participates in development of department policies, program planning and coordination with other agencies in carrying out pharmacy functions * Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives * Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor * Performs other duties as requested WORK SCHEDULES AVAILABLE * Emergency Room: Day/Night Shift, 7on/7off * Inpatient Location: Day Shift, M-F 8am - 4:30pm * Ambulatory Care: Day Shift, M-F 10 hour shifts four days a week. * Two years of clinical pharmacy experience, preferred * Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy AND/OR Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) * Current and active state unrestricted Pharmacy license, Arizona state license preferred * BLS certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire Indian Preference and Equal Employment Opportunity SCAHC gives preference in hiring to San Carlos Apache Tribal members and other Native Americans in accordance with the San Carlos Apache Tribe's Tribal Preference Policy, as set forth in Section 402 of the Tribe's Human Resources Department Policies and Procedures Manual.
