Horizon House history
Horizon House company history timeline
Horizon House was founded in 1952 as a support group for former mental hospital patients who had been released from psychiatric facilities into the community.
St John of God Foundation, in conjunction with St John of God Geelong Hospital, established the first Horizon House in Geelong, Victoria in 1999 to respond to the needs of young people at risk of homelessness.
By the end of 2007, the service had expanded to seven homes across Victoria and WA.
A three-tier step down model was introduced in 2015 to provide a more gradual path towards independence, by offering access to transitional accommodation and outreach support.
