In October of 1977, Hospice of Contra Costa accepted its first patient. “The patient’s family generously requested that memorials in his name be donated to us,” remembers Peggy, “it was these donations that provided us with our sole financial support.”
On November 16th, 1978 Hospice of Contra Costa was incorporated by the State of California.
In 1999, Rossmoor resident Ruth DuFosee attended a fundraiser and was inspired to do an event for Hospice East Bay.
In 2011, the group decided to find a new location for the Rossmoor Tree of Lights.
After numerous luncheons and ice cream social fundraisers, Ruth decided to hand to reins of the club to a successor in 2012.
When the Rossmoor Event Center opened in 2013, Trish thought that an Art & Wine event would be a great fit for the location.
For the latest reporting period (January-December, 2014), the Family Evaluation of Hospice Care satisfaction survey (FEHC) showed that Hospice of the East Bay families had higher satisfaction rates than comparisons with other national and California hospices in the following key areas:
