Between late September and early December 1984, the first group of volunteers underwent 30 hours of training.
Hospice of Wichita Falls began serving the community with end-of-life care in 1985 and the need has grown over the years.
In April of 1994, Hospice of Wichita Falls received a $4 million grant from the W. Erle and Emma White Foundation to build North Texas’ first hospice inpatient center.
The opening of the twelve bed W. Erle and Emma White Hospice Inpatient Center on January 27, 1997 marked the beginning of a new era for Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Our latest service expansion occurred in 2005 to include the counties of Foard, Hardeman, and Knox in North Texas.
In January of 2010 the HOWF was awarded first non-profit Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Award for marketplace excellence.
October of 2011 HOWF achieved a new milestone by cared for 200 patients and their loved ones throughout their service area.
In late 2015 HOWF began a Palliative care program, Palliative Care of North Texas which was an important step in expanding total care for the facility for patients and family members of patients.
