Summary: The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients by prescription and under the supervision of a physician and the Director of Respiratory Care or designee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides ventilator care, secretion mobilization treatments, and other treatments as ordered by physician.
Provides all aspects of airway care, maintenance and education.
Performs breathing assessments and mechanics as needed for all purposes as ordered by physician.
Interprets Orders - Draws and analyze arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosage.
Participates in ambulation and mobility.
Charts all pertinent information on patient's chart.
Assists in bedside Bronchoscopy.
Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators.
May act in the role of Charge Therapist and carry out shift responsibilities as assigned.
Assists in the orientation and training of students, new staff members, patients, families and care.
Active member of code team - responds to emergencies and provides care, CPR, airway maintenance including intubation.
Represents Respiratory Care as a member of the multidisciplinary patient care team.
Evaluates patients upon admission & discharge.
Requirements:
Associate's of Science degree required
Bachelor's degree in a health related field preferred
Current RRT Certificate required
Current CT RCP license required
Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certifications required
WORK SCHEDULE: 32 hours, days, / 7:00p-3:30 a.m. including every other weekend and holiday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assesses the nutritional status of adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient through documentation in the medical record. Uses parameters such as anthropometric measurements, visual assessment and interpretation of laboratory values and interviewing patient and family as appropriate.
Accurately assesses and calculates formulations for parenteral and enteral nutrition and makes adjustments based on patient's clinical status.
Develops and revises a nutrition care plan based on information from the patient, medical record, family and health care team members
Communicates effectively with all healthcare and food service team members as well as patients and families through conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings, individual consultation and committee participation. This includes telephone, written, and electronic communication.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university. Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (Commission on Dietetic Registration). State of CT Certification. Maintenance of required PDP (Professional Development Portfolio) which specifies 75 CEU per 5 year period through Commission on Dietetic Registration. State Certification, as required.
Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate MediTech electronic medical record system and other computer-based systems, which manage patient-care records. Ability to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MS applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Must be able to effectively utilize the hospital's interpretation system (MAARTI).
Work Schedule: 40 hours weekly, M-F. No weekends/holidays.
