Position Description:
Provide clinical consultation, assessment, and management to patients in HSS locations located in Stamford, Connecticut and New York City. Conduct outpatient evaluation, treatment and follow-up of surgical patients as directed by the supervising physician. Provide pre- and post-operative and discharge education to patients and family members with regards to safety issues when applicable (e.g., medication, post-operative precautions, use of equipment, etc.). Review/interpret patient imaging and lab results; communicate results to patients and provide follow-up treatment and education. Communicate effectively and appropriately when educating patient/family in regard to their medical condition and/or hospital course. Document progress patient has made toward desired outcomes. Utilize the computerized order communication system, including transcription of medical orders, retrieval of test results and documentation of results. May assist surgeon in operating room. Work week split between HSS Stamford, CT and New York City locations.
Minimum Requirements:
Master?s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program and 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant. Must have 2 years of experience with all of the following: Orthopedic Surgical experience; & First line post-operative care experience. Licensure: Must have CT and NY physician assistant licenses. Certifications Required: Infection Control Certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant certification.
Salary Offered: The salary range for this position is $151,000 - $215,342 / year.
In addition, this position will be eligible for additional bene?ts consistent with the role. The salary of the ?nalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation.

Per Diem Physician Assistant - Urology | Brooklyn Campus
The Urology team at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital provides care for the full range of urologic disorders, from the most common to the most challenging. PAs are included in a range of urologic procedures including BPH, ED, kidney stones, infertility, and urologic cancers. The urology PA is part of a comprehensive team covering surgical patients admitted to the hospital as well as performing urology consultations. May schedule appointments for patients.
Take detailed clinical phone messages for physician or advanced allied healthcare provider.
Acquire insurance authorizations for procedures and tests ordered by attending physician.
May enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician.
Maintain logging system as required for tracking test results.
Assist in the maintenance of medical charts and/or electronic medical record (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms).
May schedule surgeries/procedures or work in conjunction with Surgical Coordinator verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary.
May be responsible for MedicalAssistant duties if qualified, such as performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing, as well as collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. May assist physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information.
Retrieve physician correspondence from dictation service, edit where necessary.
Prepare physicians mail correspondence.
Compile documents for surgical billing packages
May maintain, adjust and confirm patient office schedule.
Help direct patient flow during practice hours.
Participate in revenue cycle processes.
May perform medical scribe responsibilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associates Degree or High School Diploma/GED plus two years of related experience.
Graduate of a MedicalAssistant Program if performing clinical duties.

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the MedicalAssistant performs delegated duties related to patient care activities and procedures with a varied level of acuity. Responsibilities
Prepare patients for exams and orient patient/family to the environment
Confirm radiology services have been completed prior to physician visits
Assist with disinfecting exam rooms between patient use
Assist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site
Assist in managing patient information, uploading CD images & making copies of pertinent exams
Assist with patient rooming tasks (i.e., medical history, vital signs, pulse oximeter readings, height/weight, etc.)
Assist prescribers with procedures

Pre-surgical Screening & Physician Practice
Monday - Friday (7:30am - 3:45p.m.)
Working under the supervision of a MD or Registered Nurse, you will provide care to patients in our
modern, newly constructed physician office setting
. Begin your workday by walking through an art gallery at the Omni Building. Finish the day in close proximity to museums, restaurants, shopping, and universities.

Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations, reviewing patient statuses and assisting in obtaining patient data.
Obtain PCR nasal swabs for pre-surgical patients
Support the Pre-Surgical Screening program by assisting nurses and obtaining vital signs, lab specimens (venipuncture) and EKG's.
Preparing specimens for the lab and ensuring hand-off to courier
Foster efficient patient throughput, deliver excellent customer service, and establish and maintain an organized professional environment.
Assist the physician in treatments and procedures and ensure physician orders are completed in a timely manner.
Demonstrate proficiency in cast removal, suture and staple removal, and application of off the shelf braces.
Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers.
