Transcribes physicians' orders accurately.
Informs nurse in charge of physicians' orders which require immediate attention, such as stat orders or laboratory reports.
Answers telephone and relays messages in a timely manner by referring calls, paging, and placing appropriate calls.
Notifies physicians of referrals by phone and in writing.
Assists physicians in obtaining reports, charts and notifying them of needed communications related to orders.
Completes charts and forms for patient discharge or transfer.
Submits charges appropriately.
Copies patient charts and other information as directed.
Checks diets on computer before each meal and update as necessary.
Prepares charts for new admissions.
Charts vital signs and weights.

Job Overview:
This position performs clerical duties as well as maintaining skills necessary to observe and interpret central cardiac monitors. Notifies the RN in accepted timeframe of changes in the patient rhythm or if arrhythmia occurs. Documents any change per unit standard. Maintains alarms at all times, and immediately reviews alarms and makes cardiac monitoring the first priority. Notifies appropriate nursing personnel or clinical engineering of any problems not resolved by unit trouble shooting. Maintains equipment, logs and telemetry supplies per unit protocol.

Essential Job Functions
Provides basic patient care to include, but not limited to, care and comfort, record vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and mobility, including unit based specialty duties.
Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns to nurse
Provides high level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors and all employees
Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care
Uses professional, verbal and written communication skills at all times
Work Experience
Preference for recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facility
Required Skills
* Ability to clearly communicate to other members of the healthcare team
* Ability to understand and follow directions of healthcare team
* Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations (i.e. falls, skin breakdown, suicide prevention, environment of care)
* Infection prevention and transmission based precautions
* Understanding of clerical duties and office based technology
* Team dynamics
* Patient data collection and documentation (i.e. vital signs, intake/output, change in patient condition)
* Basic hygiene and activities of daily living care
* Feeding, hydration, and nutrition
* Bowel and bladder elimination
* Ambulation and patient mobility
* Use of clinical technology
* Compassionate, relationship based approach in care activities
* Accountability for completion of assigned tasks
* Escalation of concerns via chain of command
Certifications
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred)
Nursing Student with First Clinical Rotation complete OR state testing complete (required)
Successful Completion of PCT Training Program
Education
High School/GED (preferred not required)

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Unit Secretary provides clerical support to the nursing unit. As a member of the nursing unit, the Unit Secretary conducts themselves to promote an organized and positive culture on the unit.
Essential Functions:
* Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve caller problems and specific request in a timely manner
* Provides excellent, customer-focused service by prioritizing and navigating all internal and external calls in a prompt respectful manner from both internal customers and the community
* Schedules discharge follow up appointments; assists in recording traumas and codes within the facility
* Performs other administrative or clerical duties and projects as assigned
* Other duties as assigned
Education:
* High School Degree or GED
Experience:
* Prior healthcare clerical work (preferred, not required)
Training:
* EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred, not required)
Skills & Abilities:
* Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, 25 WPM typing skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
* Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment

Essential Functions:
Monitors and maintains patient charts and medical records.
Operates communication systems including but not limited to telephone, paging system, pneumatic tube, and other advanced communication technology devices.
Assists with greeting, admission, registration, transfer, transport, and/or discharge of patients as assigned.
Maintains unit and office supplies, ordering and stocking as needed. Ensures unit areas and rooms are maintained according to regulatory standards.
Acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of other Unit Coordinator staff.
Coordinates the transport of non-controlled medications from Pharmacy to designated licensed healthcare practitioners or from tube system to secured medication storage room.
Initiates Code Blue/Medical Assist/ACT in emergency situations and ensures the communication of all required information to the appropriate staff.
Education Requirement:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator or clerk course, preferred.
Certifications:
Current CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider), required.
Skills:
Basic computer and technologyskills required.
Excellent customer service, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience:
Previous health care experience, preferred.
