Job Description:
Responsible for the 24 hour management of the assigned unit assuring patient care meets the standard of care.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, BSN required.

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience required and one (1) to two (2) years progressive management experience required.

Technical Skills:
Computer proficiency to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database.

Other:
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.

License/Certification:
Current RN license in the State of Nevada. Current BCLS certification is required.

Compensation Range:

$ 47.84 / hour - $ 63.39 / hour

Supervises activity of all departments, professional and technical staff. Serves as the highest ranking administrative representative in the hospital during evening and night shifts during weekdays and all shifts on weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
LIST THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED BY THIS POSITION
1.
Schedules and cancels agency nurses and patient observation aides according to guidelines.
2.
Assist the Admissions Department and physicians with bed availability and patient placement. Awareness of COBRA Guidelines.
3.
Maintains diversion records.
4.
Orients new Administrative Supervisors.
5.
Evaluates staffing schedules and ensures that staffing is based on patterns and patient acuity.
6.
Notifies Administrator-On-Call as needed.
7.
Interprets policies and procedures to staff and monitors compliance; assists with developing new policies.
8.
Arranges Arelief@ when absent.
9.
Organizes and implements projects, new programs.
10.
Procures supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
11.
Maintains the Infection Control Program Guidelines, OSHA requirements, State Licensure Requirements, JCAHO Standards and hospital goals and objectives.
Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING:
BSN required; MSN preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Internal Candidates: Minimum four (4) years clinical nursing required, including minimum two years in critical care. Two to three years of management experience preferred with a knowledge of overall hospital operations. Must possess good judgment. Possess basic communication skills and good knowledge of nursing theory, practice and organizational behavior. Must follow proper lines of authority and be able to listen, plan and problem solve. Must show initiative and accept constructive criticism. Must be capable of evaluating, planning and decision making in order to solve patient related issues and administrative policy.
External Candidates: Minimum five (5) years clinical nursing required, including minimum two years in critical care. Two to three years of management experience preferred with a knowledge of overall hospital operations. Must possess good judgment.
