We have an opening for a 1st shift (Monday - Thursday, 5:00 am - 3:30 pm) position to work in our Fairfield, OH facility.
This position will set-up, operate, or tend heavy equipment to inspect cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend or straighten metal material needed for customer parts. Parts are either hand loaded or fed by a coil of steel into the machine.
Prior experience operating punch press machines (preferred)
, or on the job training by a supervisor/lead to be provided
Requirements:
Must have basic knowledge of measuring tools, i.e. tape measures and calipers
2-3 years of manufacturing experience preferred. Prior experience operating a punch press machine a plus
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (approx. 9 hours per day)
Must be able to withstand extended exposure to heat (summer months)
Must be able to meet the physical demands of business needs daily including being able to lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs. multiple times per day
High School Diploma/GED
Prior work with ERP systems preferred. Knowledge of PLEX a plus
Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with co-workers.

Essential Job Functions:
Mounts roll of material on machine supports and threads material over tension bar, and between feed rollers.
Tapes material onto cores.
Starts machine and observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular winding.
Moves levers to stop, start, and regulate speed of machine and to align material.
Sets anvils and blades, cuts cores and spacers.
Checks cuts for correct size and ensure edges of cuts are smooth. If edges are rough, make necessary adjustments to knife blades.
Watches material to ensure patterns stay in spec.
Disengages winding shaft and removes rolls of material.
Check materials pre, in process and postproduction using calipers and rulers.
Maintain neat and accurate machine reports.
Accurately pick raw material, return raw material, enter labor tracking and complete rolls into the ERP system.
Accurately label rolls for shipment, inventory or next process in line.
Operates slitter at maximum speed while slitting materials for maximum performance while maintaining quality.

You will follow order specifications and perform set-up and cutting operations, general and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and safety-related housekeeping.
Job Duties
Follow order specifications/special instructions and ensure all production materials are at cutter prior to set-up
Determine the best utilization of master sheet, cutting to customers' specifications
Set up and operate cutting machine with high proficiency
Operate assigned cutter by performing required adjustments, maintenance, and maintaining consistent quality.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment by following all company safety policies and procedures and reporting unsafe conditions and incidents, while maintaining quality standards
Verify dimensions of cut parts match work order
Identify poor quality material and notify supervisor and/or Quality Control
Measure to ensure specified dimensions of sheets
Observe operation of machine to detect malfunctions such as jamming wrinkling or tearing of material
Stop machine to make required adjustments, when necessary
Replace worn cutting blades
Record and report all finished production. Complete and process all related documentation via PC or tablet
Record maintenance and service calls in maintenance logbook as required
Train, assist, and support other team members in problem solving and meeting department goals. Continuously review current processes and search for improvement methods to improve product/process quality, reduce waste, rework and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process
Perform general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within department/group and assists other areas as required.
Work enthusiastically to meet or exceed all performance goals
Conduct regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective action on equipment to achieve maximum machine performance based on equipment specifications and acquired knowledge of machine operations
Manage role with an understanding of changing priorities, sense of urgency, execution of results and support for the team
Inspect finished product before releasing to internal or external customers
