In 1863, mining began in lower Nevada.
In 1935 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt dedicated the Hoover Dam.
Yet, in 1942 construction started and stopped on the Davis Dam.
Four years later in 1946, construction was begun again on Davis Dam.
Until 1964 Laughlin was merely a wide spot along the Colorado River.
1967-the second Casino was opened in Laughlin as the Nevada Club.
In 1968 the Crystal Palace was opened.
In 1981, the Edgewater opened.
Laughlin's red brick, colonial-style casino is the biggest in town, with some 700 slot machines and 28 gaming tables." In 1982 his gambling operations grossed more than $20 million.
In contrast with Las Vegas' endless boom, Laughlin had to wait for nearly 20 years after Don Laughlin's arrival before there were 100 residents — the first house wasn't built until 1985 — most of the early community development took place on the Arizona side of the river.
In 1987, Don Laughlin built the bridge between Laughlin and Bullhead City.
In 1988 both Harrah’s and the Ramada Express opened.
In 1999 Don Laughlin opened a new bowling center and a children’s daycare center.
