Job Description Provides housekeeping services in resident apartments, bathrooms, common areas and other areas as directed. Removes dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions. Ensures that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times. Coordinates daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas. Performs isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures. Discards infectious wastes into appropriate containers.     FULL TIME *8 Hour Shifts* OBJECTIVE: Perform cleaning, scrubbing and polishing operations, along with housekeeping duties at the Rouse Estate. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Clean windows, woodwork and draperies. 2. Vacuum, sweep, scrub and clean floors, as well as stripping, waxing and buffing, using mechanical equipment, as required. 3. Dust and clean apartments, offices, hallways, and common areas. 4. Empty waste baskets and dispose of trash. 5. Empty ash trays and cigarette urns. 6. Clean lavatories and replenish supplies, in apartments and common areas. 7. Wash walls and windows as needed, but at least annually. 8. Vacuum runners or mats in entry way. 9. Clean furniture in residents' rooms as assigned. 10. House clean entire area around and including bed when resident changes location or is discharged, including bed springs and mattress. 11. Clean bed, springs, frames and mattresses as assigned. 12. Gather and tie used newspapers weekly for recycling. 13. Regularly clean all dining rooms, floors, window sills, hi/low dusting, table and chairs. 14. Assist Laundry with distribution/gathering of linens. 15. Report unusual physical plant conditions or questionable items to director 16. Obey all safety rules and regulations. 17. Keep work area clean and orderly including housekeeping office and janitor's closets. 18. Include vacuum, dusting, semi-annually wash walls and window coverings. Daily empty trash. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Works in areas of the facility. 2. Sitting, standing, bending and moving intermittently during working hours. 3. Subject to frequent interruptions. 4. Willingness to work beyond normal working hours when requested by Director. 5. Subject to reactions from dust, housekeeping and disinfecting solutions, falls burns from equipment, odors, etc. 6. May be subject to infectious diseases, substances, contaminated articles, etc. 7. Communicates with all employees. 8. Subject to using cleaning solvent which may require use of personal protective clothing. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions. 2. Must be able to perform constant routine work. 3. Ability to learn cleaning operations and the proper use of equipment owned by the Rouse Estate. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be able to read, write and speak in an understandable manner. 2. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public. 3. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions. 4. Be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices, procedures and guidelines pertaining to assisted living facilities. 5. Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel. 6. Ability to resolve problems that arise such as mistakes, costly waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, settling personnel grievances, etc. 7. Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day. 2. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner. 3.
