Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: The Child Care Shift Supervisor has overall shift responsibility for the provision of a safe, therapeutic, and culturally sensitive environment for children in residential care. This position requires critical thinking skills, advanced child care skills and the ability to assess stressful situations and respond appropriately.
Principal Assigned Responsibilities:

11. Ensure medication is passed as outlined in agency policy.
Ensure meals and snacks are prepared and served as scheduled.
Successfully complete all required agency trainings as defined by program and agency policy.
Ensure compliance with labor standards as related to staff breaks, and management of additional hours during shift.
In transitional services program coordinate intakes/referrals into program in accordance with program policy and procedure.
Other related tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
l. Minimum high school or equivalency diploma required; some higher education preferred.
2. One year related child care experience preferred.

Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: The Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering RTF program related trainings that will develop staff from the start of their employment and throughout their career at The House of the Good Shepherd. The Coordinator will be a resource to staff on an ongoing basis to help staff better understand the nuances of the RTF system both internally and externally. Principal Assigned Responsibilities:
Co-facilitate the design and development of training program tailored to the specific needs of RTF staff, including but not limited to Clinicians, Transitional Coordinators, Behavior Support Specialists and Direct Care staff.

Provide on-the-job-training opportunities to all RTF staff to provide real-time education/training and modeling of role-specific expectations to foster staff's ability to fully grasp the role through an experiential training approach. This will occur within all aspects of the RTF operation and services, up to and including, program routine, home visits and family visitation.
Training opportunities should be guided by the specific regulatory standards of the RTF required by the Office of Mental Health, participating contract partnership agencies, and agency policies/procedures.
Work with the Professional Development Specialist and the Training department to maintain updated curriculum database and training records. This includes coordination of staff training registration with respective manager and monitor staff compliance with required trainings.
Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify training gaps and develop targeted solutions.
Work in tandem with the RTF Assistant Director and other RTF managers, Training department and Human Resources to ensure training direction effectively responds to the areas of concern and/or risk identified in data review of staff performance measures to include feedback received from stay and exit interviews.

Create engaging and informative content that addresses relevant topics such as trauma-informed care, child development, family engagement, cultural sensitivity, and crisis intervention.
Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, feedback, and performance metrics.
Stay informed about the latest research, trends, and innovations in the field of Residential Treatment and share relevant information with staff members.

As a Home & Careers Teacher at the Tilton School, you'll be much more than an educator. You'll play a key role in helping students heal, grow, and discover new possibilities. Qualifications
Qualifications and Preferred Experience
Bachelor's degree and a valid NYS teaching certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences (Home & Careers), or an equivalent teaching certificate obtained through a NYS-approved pathway that leads to a master's degree in education and permanent certification
Certification in Special Education strongly preferred
Prior experience teaching students with IEPs or emotional/behavioral challenges is a plus
Must meet all NYSED and agency training requirements

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Caseworker with Child (30%)
Maintains on-going qualitative social work/child, and social/childcare contacts in accordance with regulatory mandates. Lobbies and advocates energetically for the appropriate education/vocational placement for each resident. Prepares cases for presentation in six-month interdisciplinary case reviews and participates actively in the development of comprehensive service plan. Serves as youngster's advocate and represents in collaborative service planning with Department of Mental Health and Youth Development Services and the program's Nursing and Program Management Units. Facilitates case movement, which seeks the placement of each youngster in the most appropriate and least restrictive setting for required services.
Caseworker with Family (30%)
Maintains and facilitates on-going qualitative social work/family, family/child, and siblings contacts in accordance with regulatory mandates. Executes diligent efforts to locate family members of each youngster in the program. Implements creative strategies for involving family members in the service planning and delivery process. Lobbies energetically and facilitate the provision of family therapy and other supportive collateral services when indicated. Facilitates the development of realistic appropriate and timely discharge plans. Promotes the principles of the family-to-family initiative through partnership with direct care staff, birth parents and youth and neighborhood residents. Helps to establish communities of care for youth and families by building effective relationships with significant individuals and service providers in the location where the family resides.
Casework with Collateral Persons (15%)
Maintains regular contact and efficacious working relationships with significant others involved in the service planning and provision process, i.e. child care staff, educational personnel, court and legal representatives, foster parents, medical personnel and other caseworkers involved. Lobbies energetically and advocates for services which will empower and enhance client functioning. Assures a holistic, culturally sensitive, family centered and child-focused presentation of case particulars. Represents the agency in neighborhood service network meetings and other forums and participates in other community educational activities.
Record keeping (25%)
Maintains accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper case records. Complete, accurate and timely documentation of casework activities is a critical element of this position. Facilitates regulatory compliance with City and State standards of practices. Completes and submits all necessary reports (e.g., service plans, permanency hearing reports, progress notes), as required, in a timely fashion.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience required:
A record of success and achievement in foster boarding home or residential childcare work is helpful but not required. Demonstrated competency in the knowledge of the Family-to Family service model is desirable.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in social work or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. Degrees in other disciplines are given full consideration.
Special Skills:
Familiarity with the community to which assigned and knowledgeable about the major culture groups within the neighborhoods served. The following qualifications are desirable: residence in the community in which the position is located; from the culture and ability to speak the language of the major groups served in the community. Must have excellent writing skills and good basic computer skills (e-mail, word processing, internet research).

Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: In concert with RTF Clinical Team, coordinate all aspects of training, mentoring and on-going monitoring of crisis prevention activities in support of the development of a collaborative treatment environment and achievement of a significant reduction in the use of restraints at Schafer Residence.
Principal Assigned Responsibilities:
Orient and engage youth and their families as part of the admission and initial planning process in a review of Schafer Residence' s crisis support program and completion of the Individual Behavior Support Assessment (BSA) and other pertinent assessments, as defined by the Treatment Team.
Assist each youth's Primary Therapist in the completion of an Individualized Crisis Management Plan (ICMP) and related safety plans within agency' s prescribed timeframes.
Provide consultation for the revision of ICMPs and safety plans for each youth.
Ensure that every staff person at Schafer Residence who may be involved in participating in a restraint has completed the agency's OMH-approved Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training curriculum.
Conduct specific on-site activities with newly trained staff to enhance their practical application of trauma informed care and approved crisis prevention and management interventions; provide ongoing mentoring to direct care staff in these areas.
Provide specific on-site observation and assessment of staff competencies related to trauma informed care and crisis prevention and management, working with RTF Management staff to recognize best practice performance and improve low/marginal performance and enhance fidelity to approved agency and regulatory body practices.
Provide psycho-educational and skill-building activities and/or groups for youth at Schafer Residence and their families relevant to trauma-informed care and crisis prevention and management.
Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure program compliance with all agency, CMS and New York State requirements related to restraint.
Be the lead facilitator of formal debriefings with staff, youth, and families.
Coordinate the programs analysis of restraint and near miss trend data to refine quality improvement efforts against standards defined by the agency and accrediting bodies.
Assist program Management and Clinical staff in promoting and ensuring the provision of effective trauma informed, strength-based, and recovery-oriented daily therapeutic activities that build resiliency.
Participate on the agency's Behavior Support Committee.
Attend agency, community or other meetings as assigned by the Director of RTF Services.
Other related tasks/duties or special projects as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in human services or a related field.
One-year successful human service experience in a behavioral health setting, preferably working with children highly preferred.
Valid NYS Driver's License
