Housekeeper/laundry aides can work in hotels, hospitals, assisted living facilities, or any other place where there is a lot of cleaning that needs to be done.

Housekeepers/laundry aides do many of the duties that regular housekeepers do, such as cleaning rooms and making beds. They focus primarily on cleaning linens such as bedsheets and towels. They sort, wash and fold clothes so they can be reused for other guests. However, this is not as easy as pressing a start button on a washing machine--housekeepers/laundry aides also need to remove stains, iron clothes, and handle large loads of work quickly.

Very few housekeepers/laundry aides have bachelor's degrees because the skills needed to do this job are not learned in an average classroom. Practical skills like knowledge of cleaning techniques or physical stamina are far more important than any academic knowledge. The vast majority of housekeepers are women--maybe it's time for some men to pick up the detergent and stain remover.
