Our Environmental Services Department at our Akron Hospital is looking to add a Housekeeping Aide to our team to create a comfortable and safe environment our patients have come to expect. This position is responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, restrooms, and various common areas assigned to your unit. Other duties include timely completion of discharge and other assorted cleaning requests, establishing rapport with patients, and working alongside fellow caregivers from other departments.

5:00pm - 11:30pm, 28 Hrs per week
Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning assignments within designated area according to established policies and procedures. Washes, dries, folds, distributes and collects soiled towels as needed in the Lifestyles locker rooms if applicable. Keeps supplies stocked at all times. Maintains appropriate levels of products necessary in the performance of duties. Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies and notifies supervisor when additional supplies are needed. Cleans and inspects equipment such as washers, dryers, cabinets, windows and casings as appropriate. Reports any necessary facility or equipment repairs to the supervisor and/or maintenance department. Completes annual on-going competency requirements. Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain certification/licensure, department specific requirements and professional growth. All Lifestyles: Maintains required CPR (BLS). Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety. Other duties as assigned

Housekeeping Aides are an integral part the environmental services team that helps change the lives of our patients and residents each day. As a Laundry Aide you are responsible for providing a full range of nursing care in an interdisciplinary environment including:
- Pick up, sort wash, dry and deliver residents’ personal clothing as well as facility towels, wash cloths and bed linen at the scheduled times.
- Complete minor repairs to resident clothing such as replacing buttons, repairing pant hems, or applying a patch to worn/torn clothing.
- Labeling new resident clothes.
- Removing any lint from dryers after every use.
- Notifying your supervisor of needed supplies and/or equipment repairs.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly laundry room.

Required qualifications:
- One year of experience working as a laundry aide or housekeeper preferably in a healthcare facility.
