The Inspector inspects stationary equipment such as piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks, etc. according to industry best practices (API 570, 510, 653, etc.) in order to maintain mechanical integrity and comply with OSHA CRF 1910.119j and company standards.A Day in the Life
The Inspector develops and ensures timely execution of unit inspection plans working with Meridium and RBI software.
The position issues inspection recommendations and Nonconformance Reports (NCR) for deficiencies found during inspections of fixed equipment and follows-up to ensure proper and timely completion of repairs.
In addition, the Inspector ensures that Technical Directives, Engineering Standards and Best Practices are implemented in his/her area of responsibility.
The position maintains electronic and hardcopy files of equipment data and history.
The position also provides QA/QC support for repairs and new fabrications, as required.
The position is responsible for setting expectations and coordinating contract inspection services resources as needed.

Job Description
A Mobile Inspector II functions as a member of the Manheim mobile inspections team for a designated region with the primary responsibility of conducting vehicle condition inspections on a client's lot. Their core skill is to provide accurate and complete documentation of overall vehicle condition within the parameters of a Manheim inspection. This position will build trust with Clients, engage to help them see the value in the Manheim Marketplace, and to request more inventory to be inspected by providing quality and timely inspections.
As a Mobile Inspector II, it is expected to perform tasks with minimal guidance and supervision, while demonstrating growing independence and problem-solving skills.
Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities
Conduct a thorough vehicle inspection.
Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer/clients' lot safely.
Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate vehicle information into the inspection system to correct VIN, mileage, and sub series.
Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, missing or inoperable items.
Inspect and record vehicle exterior condition, including but not limited to tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components.
Inspect and record the vehicle interior condition, including but not limited to seats, dashboard, and options.
Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles including powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.
Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management.
Be able to pivot and adapt to changes in daily appointments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of each dealer visit
Develop strong knowledge of clients in territory and work together with partners to keep them active with Manheim mobile inspections through regular, pro-active on lot engagement
Receive data and insight from partners and leverage to maximize volume of units inspected on dealer lots.

Functions as a solid team player and works closely with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, other Manheim workgroups and auctions.

To succeed in this position, you will be required to inspect incoming freight and determine the classification of the commodity based on the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) descriptions.
Based on the appropriate item and classification, you will be required to issue billing corrections, audit and resolve Bill of Landing (BOL) errors and maintain correspondence with the appropriate parties of any corrections being made.
From this information, you will complete inspection reports regarding shipment dimensions and densities. Weekly summaries of activities and issues will be expected using Excel and other databases.
You will also be required to maintain knowledge of this information and serve as a resource to local distributors ensuring all laws, regulations and company standards are being upheld.

Your Tasks
* Perform the Authorized Duties required by NB-263, RCI-1, 4-2, ASME QAI-1, 7-2 and the ASME BPVC Codes for Arise Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company Risk Retention Group (ABIIC) clients.
* Document daily inspections performed for verification, witness activities, and quality program monitoring activities in the Inspector Diary.
* Prepare technical reports and documentation as required by the ASME BPVC Codes.
* Stay updated on certifications, compliance courses, experience criteria, safety requirements, procedures, and technologies.
* Attend joint reviews of Certificate Holders assigned as required.
* Support the Company's vision and mission statement.
* Adhere to all Company policies and procedures as outlined in the various Corporate Policies and the Employee Handbook.
* Be responsible for general cooperation and support of all Company, Client, and affiliate locations.

Your Qualifications
* Meet the experience criteria listed in ASME QAI-1 and RCI-1, Table 1, and the satisfactory completion of the National Board "New Construction Commission" course, hold a valid and current National Board Commission card. (Table 1 can be found in Part I, page 4 of the 2025 NB-263 RCI-1 Rules for Commissioned Inspectors, produced under copyright by The National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors)
* Attended the National Board course for Authorized Inspectors and received a passing grade on the Authorized Inspector exam given by the National Board.
* Achieve a minimum of 80 hours on the job training in ASME shop/field fabrication and inspection under the supervision of a designated Authorized Inspector.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, customer orientation, and self-management skills.
* Basic computer skills including experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PDF generation.

Additional Information
* The anticipated hourly base pay range for this full-time position is $45/hour - $55/hour. Actual base pay will be determined based on various factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity.
