Reports To: Property Manager

Hours: FT 8am – 5pm

Pay Range: $ 18.79-22.55

Position type: Non-exempt. Unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office of Professional

Employees International Union (OPEIU).

The Housing Assistant will carry out such duties as needed and directed by the Property Manager including customer service, collecting rents and recording financial information into property management software; working with applicants and residents to complete eligibility paperwork; coordinating with utility and repair vendors; and administrative work and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist with administrative duties that are related to the operating of the property including rent collection, recording financial information, and making daily deposits.

2. Assist with preparation of spreadsheets, grants, funding applications, correspondence and reports as they relate to the housing programs.

3. Answer questions, phone inquiries and screen calls as needed.

4. Photocopy, process transmittals/mailings and other office duties.

5. Coordinate with vendors to do repairs; forward maintenance request forms to LIHI’s maintenance department; track maintenance tickets.

6. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of two years of related work.

2. Excellent written and verbal communication; works well without direct supervision.

3. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.

4. Ability to work with a diverse community.

5. Must pass criminal background and drug screening.

The Section 8 Internal Trainer will help employees cultivate their skills and knowledge by providing a complete new-hire training, and sharing expertise in ways that motivate and develop Assisted Housing employee skills through on-going technical education and training programs. The goal is to promote efficiency and competitive advantage for the Tampa Housing Authority by developing the skills of Assisted Housing personnel.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

• Liaise with supervisors to determine training needs and identify areas of improvement.

• Work collaboratively with management to develop processes and provide content development as needed.

• Prepare training curriculum and educational material based on THA-issued notices

• Conduct seminars, workshops, individual training sessions, etc.

• Support and mentor new employees, Coordinate peer shadowing.

• Conduct and coordinate trainings for independent contractors and temporary employees.

• Provide training on Housing Software to include: Yardi, File Vision, CGI, Rent Café, Adobe Acrobat Pro and SharePoint

• Analyze QC reports to determine specific training needs from trending errors.

• Provide all employees with tools for effective caseload management.

• Conduct a minimum of 2 weeks of internal new hire and/or requested training per month.

• Keep and distribute the monthly departmental meeting minutes.

• Provide new employees with federal regulations and policies within the Administrative Plan and HUD Federal Regulations.

• Stay updated on all regulatory and relevant policy changes. Communicate to department as necessary.

Required Qualifications :

Education level:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Sociology, Psychology or related field.

• Four years of experience in Housing Choice Vouchers, subsidized housing or related field.

• Deep knowledge of best practices, laws, rules, and regulations as it relates to the administration and management of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.

Specific skills:

• Organizational and time management abilities.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (esp. PowerPoint).
